I am currently at sixth form however have found a levels may not be the correct route for me, so am now looking into work in the beauty industry. I do not particularly want to go to college as the one in my area doesn't particularly have the best reputation so I was wondering if it is possible to be trained on the job? like an apprentice i guess? Any help would be loooovely!

I think generally apprentices go to college at least a day a week?

Have you thought about doing separate training courses in areas you are interested in if you'd rather not go to college?

Hi AliceGrace

I think that, potentially, Apprenticeships are a fantastic way to train. You can be earning while training and it is training 'on the job' i.e. real experience. Different training providers have different arrangements. Have a look at Welcome to Habia and that will give you an idea of what the scheme is all about.

there is a scheme in our area whereby apprentices dont have to go to college. they have on the job training and the assessors go the salon to assess.

i dont know if england has anything similar but maybe also your local careers office can help ?
