I'm feel disheartened. I have a good amount of regular clients but I would like to be busier. I'm pricing myself around £10 less than the CND Salon that trained me which is very popular. So I'm £43 for full set enhancements including french or nail art, then £34 for infills.

I think the £43 is scaring people off, but I don't want to be under selling myself or be competing with all the people that offer extensions for £15/£20.

I do loads of freehand custom nail designs but I don't think people are thinking about that when they ask prices.

Any advice???

Sarah

Maybe desperate your prices so £x for a plain/normal set then with nail art

Pink and white full set with tips- -£35
Pink and white infill -£30
Nail art or gems -£1 per nail.

Gel polish -£20

Luxury manicure with massage -£20 -£25.

My friends salon is £25 for full set acrylics
£3 for gems etc
Were are you based ?

I think that sounds about right, you're using high end products and you've obviously had some of the best training going...so charge what you think you're worth and according to your local area.

Definitely price your nail art separately to your enhancements. So basically do your enhancement price incl 1 colour of polish, then a separate price for Shellac on top etc...then another price list for nail art.

You will find clients that know and care about the well being of their nails and they'll come to you because of your skills and products x

I think it totally depends on the area you are in and if you are good enough to justify higher prices (which I am sure you are). Where I am from £25 is the average price for a set of pink & white acrylics or one colour acrylics - you can charge extra for more than one colour, 3d art etc. The salon I work in would love to charge more and I feel the standard of nails is very very good however in the area of Manchester we are in the amount of salons is seriously ridiculous and we can't really charge more as there are deals from around 8 local salons that we kind of have to match! My average charge per acrylic set is usually around £29-30.

I think if you are in an area where people are willing to pay the prices you have suggested then go for it, charge what you think you are worth!!

Although people sometimes frown about my prices. I sometimes take off 10% if they are have their hair done as well or if they recommend their friends, also discount for group bookings especially if your freelance as you save on petrol. X

Where I work they're £44 and £30 Infills. We use CND also. But it the little villages around us charge £25 at most.
We get some people who say 'HOW MUCH? I'M NOT PAYING THAT'
But we do lots if ext so obv lots of people will pay that.
Don't sell yourself short. Tell them about the product and your training etc. you not just slapping on some tips and 'brushing' some acrylic over.

Are you based in a town, village, shopping centre?

Do you have different prices depending on who does it. Or is that one price list for everyone. Sometimes places charge depending on experience of the technician. X

I personally think that's extortionate but that's only because I wouldn't charge what I wouldn't pay. I wouldn't pay any more than £30 for nails unless they were done by kirsty meakin or Gemma lambert xxx

I think they sound about right, a person in my area who uses CND charges £46, can't remember for infills, she is the most expensive salon in the area and always busy!

I think the phrase you get what you pay for applies...but very much dependant on your area too...I live on the west coast...At our salon we charge 20 full set and extra for nail art...the going rate is 25 near us but we're considering putting prices up by 2 as products don't get any cheaper...we use nsi...I wouldn't pay more than £30 for a set of nails but that's because of the area i live in...I think it also depends on the reputation of the tech aswell...if people are amazed by your work and you and the customer show it off people will pay a large amount because they'll of had them done by you...
There's no point in underselling yourself...you're a business...x

It all depends on your area. In my area no one would pay £43, it's a behind the times town, think nails are in and around £25 maybe even £20.
