I have a problem with getting my shoulders to tan.

I have used fake tan and the mositurizers with tan in but no matter how much I use to sholders don't get brown.

Ive had sun beds this year as my exzema was bad and that helped it but still my shoulders haven't tanned even though the rest of my body is very brown.

Is there a reason for this? Also is there anything I can do for it to tan as I look a bit silly with little white shoulders :(

Thank you for any advice you can give me

I would usually ask do you stand under the shower to wash your hair, if you do does your shampoo contain silicone,
if it contains silicone when you rinse your hair it will leave a film of silicone on your shoulders and back and this will create a barrier to any spray tans,
also hairsprays will do this if you have any skin uncovered when spraying it,
i don't understand why you have not got a colour on your shoulders from the sun bed though as this is an area that most people would burn on if in the sun, hth

thank you, I don't wash my hair in the shower I always do it over the bath and I don't use any other hair products its really strange.

I think I will have a good scrub at them tonight as I am having another sunbed tomorrow so I will see if doing that makes a difference

There is absolutley no connection between how a spraytan and a UV tan developes as the tanning processes are completly different.

That is to say if you dont/cant get a UV tan that you cant get a spraytan to develope and vice versa.

If you are an individual who's skin doesn't react to both then you are one hell of an unlucky person..something like 1: 10million

I dont suspect this is the case here as you aparently do develope both a UV and a spraytan to most of your body ...except for your shoulders.

Now if it were just the spraytan you had this problem with then one could look at the issues Louise has put forward or that your clothes rub in this area.....

However if your UV tan also doesnt develope to this area (which would not be effected by the above) then I am at a bit of a loss here :?:

I suspect it's got something to do with whatever it is your doing to your skin around these areas?????

Maybe have a go at exfoliating heavily around these areas..don't apply moisturiser (to prevent the DHA from entering the skin) and get a spraytan to this area only.

Now it may come out patchy due to lack of moisturiser but this will prove /or not your skins ability to be stained to this area...

if succesfull then next time apply a little..have a spray and see what the outcome is...and each time increase the level of moisturiser applied and so on.

Sorry can't help any further however please do keep us posted on progress ....
