Does anyone have any tips on how I can ease the pain of arthritis?
Iv been doing beauty for about 8 years in a salon and have recently started out working for myself as I have a 2 year old!
The treatments I offer range from nails, waxing, lashes, massage Ect but my hands have been killing me recently so after a couple of visits to the doctor my blood tests confirm its rheumatoid arthritis and they are sending me to see a specialist! Iv cut down on my massage treatments but its made no difference at all in fact I'm even finding it painful to hold a gel brush when doing nails!!
I love what I do and just perfect for me now that I have a little one as I can work around looking after her but if my hands get any worse I don't know what il do!!
A friend of mine has said that paraffin wax is really good to sooth but I just wondered if anyone else has had problems like this or has any tips?

I have a few clients who find the paraffin wax really helps with the pain. My mum swears by the copper bracelet. Hope you find something that helps x

Start from the inside out. Rheumatoid conditions are a reaction of the immune system. Look at improving your diet this will help no end and find some stress relieving exercises to keep your cortisone levels down. Also try to find some stretching exercises to do on your hands and arms to relive tension in your hands forearms and shoulders after a busy day at work. Things like paraffin wax will be topical only so will not get to the root of the problem only ease your symptoms....medication from the GP will always help, but if you try to work with the above you will be able to keep working in the job you love.

Good luck and hope this helps xx

thank you so much for your advice!! X

I too have RA, have had it now for 7 yrs and had too quit my salon job. I have only recently started on my own but I'm nowhere as bad as I used to be. I still get sore after 1 manicure but I refuse to go out all day every day even tho we need the money but if I did this then I would be aggravating the joints and I would be in total pain. I always carry my ibuprofen about just incase. Do hand excersises in the morning in hot water. This used to help me as its always worse at this time. If your attending the hospital maybe ask for a steroid injection this will help for a bit. I had to stop these as they were doing nothing for me. I feel your pain (excuse the pun) xx

We have clients that have had amazing results with our products. One lady who was 22, could not sleep through the night, had a job to walk very far each day, struggles to get out of bed ect, I have a large testimonial from her if you would like it please contact me. Anyway after a week on our products she was already feeling the benefits and now within 6 weeks she is of all medications. (She was on 5 medications plus 50-60 capsules of vitamins per day)

If you would like information please contact me by pm or 07725 996595

I hear a lot of good things about glucosamine. :)

I know another hairdresser who had to stop working 2 years ago because of the pain. She went through loads of medications which didn't help, totally changed her diet, took all the right supplements, exercises, but nothing helped. She had finally been put on a very expensive drug and can work again. She said its bit 100% but improved hugely. They don't put people on it unless nothing else had worked.

Hope that all the other treatments help you, but just thought I'd mention it.
