Another spelling bee in my bonnet.

Something the beauty/nail industry is lacking is respect ......

And respect has to be earned.

I don't want to be offensive, but sometimes the spelling in threads and replies is that of a child.

Spellcheck is available (on your top right, the ABC, with the little tick above it), it checks your spelling.

I understand typos (hitting the wronfg key)...... lord knows I make enough of them.

But to be honest, some replies and posts look like they were made by un-edu-kayted people and I would be frightened to be a client of someone that had difficulty in spelling the word.

Wow your really mean tonight.

I made a spelling mistake in my last post, please forgive me.

I have to agree with you on this subject.
I know this is going to make me sound old (im only 26), but I blame it on things like text messaging where you need to get more words in a small space therefore abbreviating everything.
This is one of my pet hates, it drives me crazy!!!!!

Nar u got me skerd carl

hey just downloaded the spell checker so no more mistakes from moi ! :)

 I don't know what alse you said that makes you 'mean' but your point is fair. I would be lying if I said there haven't been a few posts recently that I gave up trying to understand.

That said though, same kind of topic, different day, they keep starting and the issue remains similar. Maybe your bee is beating its little head against a brick bonnet?

If you feel that bad about it, you can go back and "edit" your post.

I'm not being a smart yarss, it's a fact, how would you feel about having a treatment your therapist/technician couldn't spell?

You know what though? Text messaging has been around for a few years now and 'txt tlk' is relatively new. When I first got my very first mobile brick 12 years ago I didn't abbreviate words, I abbreviated sentences, every one I knew did. Everything was spelt correctly except your brain would be like a mini thesaurus finding short alternate words and missing out the ones that weren't needed. I still do it today if I have a lot to say in one text.

Good for you lilly :), everyone/anyone can do it,
oddly enough after correcting a few or your own posts using spellcheck, you actually teach yourself how to spell.

It has tought/taught me heaps, but when I'm in doubt/dowte, I just press that little button.

I can never understand how people can take offense to learning something new. I guess some people don't want to learn, or earn respect.

Unless they were going to tattoo the treatment on me, I couldnt care less.
Not everyone has English as a first language, or is academic, and unless they are wanting to be an English teacher, I dont see why this has to be such a huge problem.

I can't download it for some reason, but I do think I'm a reasonable speller. I have a bigger problem with hitting the wrong button, or missing one.

I often find I have to edit posts when I reread them.

Sometimes I forget where I am and use text talk, but I do get rid of it when I realise.

edit: I do think it's worth having a thread making thhis point every once in a while. We have lots of new geeks and plenty who just forget or get lazy, it doesn't hurt to remind people that well written threads are alot easier to read then broken sentences, spelling mistakes and text talk.

So you can claim "ignorance" when you have a tool at your fingertips to help you?

This is one of the reasons that it is important.

Well I read most of what gets put on this forum, and the only ones I ever have a little bit of trouble reading is the ones from people with EASL.
Other than that...
It nt lyk ne1 typz lyk dis...

There are people who post here who have English as a second language (I assume thats what you meant) who are far easier to read than some by people who speak it as a first language. That might be because they want to be understood and try harder.

And Carl, I used the little button this time Sir! :green:

I know what you mean, but its when people use things like "lk" instead of "look" and "ur" instead of your. When texting it makes sense but when you are writing an email or a reply on here there is no reason for it, I think its just lazy! (sorry if I offend anyone its just MHO) :)

Are you kidding me? Sorry but I really did have to laugh at that comment about being lazy, followed by "MHO"
How is using these types of abbreviations not being equally as lazy? And I have more trouble trying to decypher all of the abbreviations on this site than anything else...
