hi all,
has anyone used attitude polish with calgel??? i ordered a few attitudes i tested them over my gel for a few days and they seem good, now, when i used calclear ( cant say i've used this much as am usually asked for french/colour gel ) to remove, my gels went really sticky and soft some lifted away from the free edge ( sort of gooey if you know what i mean! )
has anyone else had this ? would it be polish or remover ???

Did you use Calcleanse (pink)? This contains no acetone so should not have affected the gel, unless you mistakenly used calaway which would start to disolve your gel?

hi, thanks for your reply mrs c, it was def calcleanse, i rang calgel and they said if the gel was thin at the free edge this can sometimes happen, they didnt comment on the attitude polish ?

Thanks lol, I mentioned it because in your original post you referred to 'calclear' and I felt sure you meant 'calcleanse'.

oh bugger i did didn't i ! Ive just posted in the calgel group to so hopefully might get some feedback from there

p.s. do you ever file/shape after your last cure, I was advised that it was OK to do this, i did it yesterday and now slightly in a panic, incase of any free edge lifting ? ( i know this would happen with my previous gel )

With a soak off gel, you do not want to file as you will file away the cap you created over the free edge. I have filed mine a few times and usually not had a problem though, so hopefully you'll be ok.

I have filled a week later because of growth and no lift. However filing a newly covered nail will weaken it and the risk is greater then filing an old nail iykwim.
As far as using nail varnish over gel. I have never had a problem and neither has a client. They use all sorts of brands. Most likely the remover.
Nails are at their most vulnerable time when freshly made. HTH.s

thanks for your reply,
hopefully i might be able to wing this one ( the filing ) she has good strong nails and is a lady that lunch's ! i have been thinking about the gooey gel thing ( taking off polish that was covering a gel french), i reckon it might have been where the clear was too thin over the f/e white, as it seemed to be little places on the white that was worse ? ooooh i love this site ! i cant afford to bomb out of nails through lack of confidence like i did hairdressing and sometimes just talking about stuff make it seem clearer iykwim

Just another thought, did you cure your gel adequately? I'm not saying you didn't but it could be a case of undercured gel, for example, if your bulbs need replacing or the nail was not getting full UV coverage in the lamp due to positioning IYKWIM.I also agree with the comments re filing the free edge. I have had this problem. Try to create a lovely cap to your free edge so that it requires no filing afterwards. Easier said than done I know lol.
