Hi all,

I have been doing this clients nails for about 3 months now and one day she asked if i had a phone number for a hairdresser so i gave her an ex collegues number.... who also just happens to do nails (i know it was probrably silly of me!) so anyway one time that my client was due for her infills- she kept making excuses as to making an appointment with me for them and then i realised that the hairdresser had done them- not going into detail but i do know for a fact she did them.
Now- this hairdresser is also someone who i am going to be working for soon (in a salon) so not exactly much i can do!
I had even confronted the hairdresser about this and she said she hadn't done her nails but she had been a few times to do her hair!

But the week after the client text and asked to book in for a facial with me- so i went and made a comment about how are nails must be hanging off by now (knowing full well she'd had them done) and she just kind of mumbled then changed the subject! Anyway, i had done my nails really nice (extra nice!) for the occasion and she noticed them and booked in with me again for the following week!
So i did them and all went well but now i am getting lots of calls and texts of her again asking for the hairdressers number! (i have given her this number several times including texting her and i saw a business card of hers in her kitchen so i know she has it)

So my question is what do i do! i dont know wether to carry on trying to impress this woman or just leave my soon to be collegue to do it! Its a bit of an awkward one really but just so angry that she was my client first and she has been dishonest to me! i mean this client is a good one when it comes to regularity but not so much with loyalty! bad points tho is she smokes in my face while i'm doing her nails and i have do them on a kitchen breakfast bar which is pretty uncomfy!

I have to say I'm a bit confused by this. It's surely up to the client which nail tech/hairdresser/beauty therapist they use. Just because she's a fairly regular client doesn't mean that you have exclusive rights to her. That's just the way it is, clients don't have to be loyal to one particular therapist. Keep it professional and do fab treatments on her and she'll probably come back to you anyway. Plus you don't actually know for sure whether the hairdresser did them - she could have gone to another salon.

As regards working at the kitchen breakfast bar, why can't you just take a portable table with you and say that you need to use it for your own comfort and safety. I wouldn't fancy trying to do someone's nails balancing on a stool anyway. Or you could do it across your couch. And as for the smoking, tell her that you can't allow it with the chemicals you use as it's dangerous.

Well for one, she can't have been that impressed with the hairdresser cos she would have had her on speedial, lol.

TBH, is this client really worth all the worry and stress she is obviously causing you? I'm a big believer in "those who laugh last, laugh longest". I think you should just say to the client that you don't have her number anymore. If she is that desperate to have her nails done by her she will go to the salon and book.

I would concentrate on just being you and if people don't like you for you, then their loss.

I will lay money that this woman is a total nightmare and she doesn't stay more than five minutes with anyone. I think she would be doing you a huge favour if you never saw her again tbh, lol.

xx

I do know for sure that she did her nails. And yeah i guess your right its her choice who she goes to but its just not nice being lied too i'm sure you or no one else on here would like it either! i would have understood if they'd both just been honest and said she had done them as it was easier for her to just do them there and then while she was already there doing her hair. And just dont think its very nice for my furture collegue to have done this and lied to me. I have done lots of her clients that she has passed onto me (as a one off) for whatever reason and i have done them without being sneaky and passing my own number onto them or getting them to re-book with me without telling her. its just the fact i have been so honest all this time and i would expect the same in return.

The thing is she doesnt have a salon- shes mobile!

I rekon your right here she has mentioned having all kinds of proffesionals going to her house to do lashes, hair, massage etc and they have been different people! Its just the fact she is a regular client (as in once a week!) so dont know if it would be justifiable to lose her over this :S

PS. she has been ringing me all day and still is now! i haven't been answering as i know she'll only be asking for her number! as thats what she keeps texting me!

I would just say that you're sorry but you don't have her number anymore.

She would know thats not true as she knows i keep in touch regularly with her and i'll be working for her soon :S

Ok, it's because the hairdresser lied to you about doing her nails that you're upset, have I got this right now? I must have misunderstood cus I thought you were upset that the client had lied to you. :o
Obviously this client likes coming to you. She rebooked when she saw how nice your nails were. She hasn't stopped coming to you altogether, which she would if she was really happy about the hairdresser doing her nails. She does sound rather awkward to deal with, but I think you must be handling her ok or she would be looking for another therapist. But tbh, I think you should just give her the phone number to stop her hassling you.

As for the hairdresser, you have to decide whether you want to make an issue of this with her. As you say, you're going to be working for her and you either need to clear the air and deal with it, or you're going to have to forget about it and just let it go. What you don't want is for it to be festering away in the back of your mind because that is going to make your working relationship very difficult. And there's nothing worse than working in a bad atmosphere.

I really hope you can sort this one out, it's not easy.

Awkward clients are always the ones that tend to come back. At the end of the day she pays for it regularly.

I would not worry about her getting her nails elsewhere, let her do that, but she came back, so she probably preferes your work.

NO SMOKING around work area!!! Thats unacceptable.

If your future collegue done what you suspecting her doing, christ knows what else she is capable of! If that happened to me I would not bother working with her!

Re her texting/phoning - i would say that my phone dropped down the toilet and i lost all my numbers! :lick::Look_righJOKE Seriously, pick up that phone and give her that number.

For future :Look_righif someone asking me re botox, threading, hair, etc i pass clients number onto the person in question to deal with it. Dont get involved. Because it wont be long until these clients will start phoning you asking you to make an aqppointment on their behalf.

We cant choose our clients - it would have wonderful if we could. I would not want to put the client off, as remember good experience is easily forgotten and the bad one - always gets passed around!

Chin up hun, it will be ok:lick:

Firstly you don't need to keep trying to impress this client. If she wants to book with you and you want to do her nails then book her in. If you can't be assed with her then say you are fully booked. It is as easy as that really. We don't have to do anyone that we don't want to, same for clients, they don't have to come to us if they don't want to. Me personally, would not do her nails again if she was bothering me with her behaviour, just not worth the stress! ;)

I just love this site so much ~ I learn something new every single day! That is one thing I will definitely do and that is pass on their number so I don't have to get involved. Fantastic idea. I would never have thought of that. Thank you. xx
