Has anyone done a back wax? Whats it like to do? Where would you start and how much do you charge?

Thanks

Vicky

If you have had training in waxing already.. this link would be very helpful to you for waxing the male client.

Following this tutorial you can't really go wrong if you stick to your basic waxing tuition. Apply the wax in the direction of the hair growth.. and take off in the opposite way.

Backs are a nice easy introduction into Male waxing on the whole.. :)

I charge £20 for a back wax and £25 for back and shoulders.

Have fun!

your best bet would be to contact kim lawless she is an expert in wax and hugely respected within the industry. When it comes to waxing if anyone know Kim knows. Good luck

As I work in a sleepy & Catholic little town I only do a couple of back waxes on men a month(!), although a few years ago I used to work in a larger town & did quite a few. They're very easy to do if you follow the waxing basics. The area to watch is the shoulders - you'll notice a natural bald spot on many men on the upper arm, so wax up to that & try to make it look natural so they don't end up with the hairy sleeve look! If you ask them where they want it hairless to that will help immensely anyway. The time it takes will vary greatly, I charge about the same as a half leg wax, but adapt the price depending on how long it takes to remove & how much they want off.

Thank you so much for all your help and information, fantastic!

If you're right handed, apply your wax from the top to the bottom of the far side. Apply really thin wax and then remove from the bottom upwards. Do the other side and then tiny up any in the middle that you did't get.

As soon as your strip gets loaded with wax, use a new one as this will just slow you down and hurt your client.

Be quick and firm with your application and removal and you'll do a full back and shoulders in 10 mins. Good luck xxx

Also get some hair clippers! If the hair is too long you need to trim it down first.

Ok Kim, question....it was my understanding to apply with the hair growth and remove against. Most of my guys' back hair grows from the side toward the middle of the back, with the center growing down. So to apply from the top to the bottom like you say would be going sideways according to the growth. It seems logical as far as saving time and I'm totally willing to try it. I was just wondering about the effectiveness with the direction of application and pull.

Thanks so much!

Sunny

Sorry, you've misunderstood me. I didn't mean from the top to the bottom, I meant from the outside into the centre, but starting at the top if you're right handed. That way you won't lean in the wax. Sorry about the confusion. You got it now? xxx

Yes I got it, and yes that's the way I do it. LOL I was getting ticked at myself thinking I was doing it wrong this whole time, hahaha. Thats funny! Thanks for clarifying!

Phew for this thread!! I had a guy into today asking if I waxed. I was brave and said yes! Just passed and never done a man's back. I explained to him that I had only just qualified and he was happy with this and is going to book in a weeks time. Bloody hell!!! I am so nervous!!!

It was my first time doing a back, took me so long. Will I get quicker as I do more? How long should it take to do a back wax? Oh and whilst Im asking how long should it take to do a full leg wax? Go one of those in tomorrow and Im quite nervous about that

The recommended time for a full leg wax is 30 minutes. However, I'm sure it would be ok if it took you a little bit longer than this as you want to do a proper job.
Try not be nervous as clients pick up on this...X
