Hi

i did a back wax the other day and although i don't have lots of experience it went really well and i got a great result on my client.

He'd said that when he'd had it done before he'd had redness for several days afterwards. I told him that a day or two was to be expected. i applied plenty of afterwax lotion (C + E Aloe gel) and offered him a small amount in a pot to take home with him, but he declined it. Gave him all the aftercare advice about avoiding hot showers, tight clothing etc.

I found out yesterday that he had redness for four days after i waxed him which seems excessive to me. How can i reduce this for him?

thanks
BB

When you say 'you found out', did he call you or did you hear is second hand? My guess is that someone is exaggerating so don't worry about it.

We are waxing humans and the human body can be unpredictable. He was probably red for two and a hald days and adds half a day every time he tells the story. He declined your very generous offer of some after care lotion too, so he could have avoided all that.

Can I just say this to all waxers out there. If you have done a good wax, then you can't be responsible for every little spot and blemish. Don't take it all on your shoulders.

Don't worry. Sounds like you did an excellent job. xx:hug:

Do you have any qualifications in this industry,
i am asking as there is no information in your profile, the more info you put on your profile will help everyone to see what qualifications and experience you have and what brands you use can make a big difference to how we answer your questions too,
please give us as much detailed info as you can so we can give you as much help as we can

Hi

thanks for your replies. I found out because his girlfriend came to me for a massage and she mentioned it to me, so like you say Kim, it's hard to know if it really was 4 days.

I was using C + E roller wax which i'd tested on myself first so i know the temperature was fine and i have NVQ Levels 2 + 3 and 18 months experience in beauty (home salon + a high street salon) although have only done a few back waxes in that time.

The same thing happened to me once, I then gave his partner a afterwax lotion that I paid for as I was worried, then when I saw her next I asked "did it help?" and she said "oh by the time you dropped it off they had gone.":irked: He still has waxing...Kim is right to tell you not to worry!

HI,
Please don't beat yourself up about this.
I wax my son's back every 6 weeks or so and he always has a breakout of spots for about 4/5 days afterwards.
I've learned that it's because he sweats a lot. Even though he doesn't do anything strenuous after his waxing, he sweats in bed :irked:
I've tried tee-tree, aloe vera, blemish control creams................you name it.
No joy !

With all my back waxes after the treatment i place a cool towel onthe back to cool down the area and reduce excessive blood flow. I find this helps with redness and bumps. Also you don't know what he did when he went home you gave him the after care advise but that doesn't mean he followed it. How do you know he didn't go tanning or wore a colored shirt.

the sweating thing might make sense Angela as i know he is a builder so probably sweats a lot during his job.

thanks for all the advice, much appreciated.
