I did a clients hair who was a base 8 with 12/16 has she wished for a light cool platinum blonde. When I did her hair she said that it was not light enough still warm/ she wanted it whiter.

So I applied blondor mixed with pastel, 1-2 ratio. Left for 20 mins. Then toned with 10/16 for 15 mins.

During this time I always asked client if she felt any burning on her scalp and she was fine, when colour was washed off, her scalp looked healthy no redness.

She came back to me 1 week later has she wanted it toning more grey so I applied 10/8 with pastel.

I cut her hair when toned and noticed a small bold patch at the side of her head, there was no redness or scabs rest of her scalp looked healthy.
Would you say that I have caused this or could this have been there before but I never took a lot of notice!! This is the 3rd time this client has had her hair coloured with me 8 weeks apart.

She use to go to another hairdressers and she had hair breakage hence having all her hair chopped off, she did tie her hair back a lot cause her hair looked shocking down.

I never mentioned the small bold spot to client cause I did not want to cause her any worry and cause any more hair loss incase this was stress related.

she is a friend so I thought I would get a colour fresh and apply that in 1 to 2 weeks and see if there is any difference and if there is I will tell her. Or do you think that I should tell her now!!

I would wait a couple of weeks and see how it looks.
If it appears that its not growing back, then you will know that you didn't cause the bald spot in the first place.

Personally, if she was my friend I would probably mention it. I would just casually say, "Do you realise that you have a tiny thin area just here" Then see what she says. Just don't make a big issue out of it.

If she was my client/not a friend, and the bald spot did not improve, I would be more cautious when applying more chemicals in the future and maybe casually mention it then, as she could be on specific medication for an illness.

:)

Thanks, I think it would be best to mention it! She always wore her hair tight back in a pony, and its only one side at front section.

If it was me who would have caused it wouldn't you think that there would be a inflamed scalp or even more bald patches! Or scabs!!

Yes, I would have thought if you caused it there would be some redness or inflamed skin.
I think its very unlikely that a hairdresser could cause bald patches, unless you really burnt someones scalp with chemicals or ripping the hair out whilst performing some sort of horrific psycho blow dry. :)

If a clients hair where to come out whilst you were working on them, its would be that they had a scalp or medical problem.

Thanks for reply. Deep down didn't think it was my fault, has there was no signs ie hair coming out, sore scalp, and her hair was in good condition after, not dry or over processed, But it's good to get other peoples opinions..
Thanks really appreciate your posts!!
