Bare Escentuals or Jane Iredale

Hi, I've been looking into mineral makeup. Two brands that keep popping up are Bare Escentuals and Jane Iredale.

So... Can anyone advise as to which is better or are they as good as each other? Or indeed anyone's experience of either.

Also where are the best places in the UK to purchase either of them?

I've never tried Jane Iredale so I cant comment, but I love Bare Escentuals.

i use bare escentuals and i love it. got mine from qvc (i buy far too much from them!!)

i will never use anything else now. the coverage is great, yet i dont look like i have got anything on!! has also worked wonders on my previously awfull skin

cant comment on the other brand as have never tried it

Hi I also wear bare essentials on a daily basis & think its fab, also since using this product my skin has become really clear I'm assuming thats somthing to with the minerals. I am saving at the mo so that I can buy the kit to retail in the salon think the set up fees about £1000

I now stock Jane Iredale and there is no comparison whatsoever IMO.
It has been flying off my shelves and I have only been open a week.

Amazing stuff and it has a full listing of ingredients as standard, no fillers added. Bare Escentuals do not advertise their ingredient list I certainly do not have one within the mountain of BE products that I have.

Try both but i can nearly guarantee you will like the Jane Iredale better

I've never tried Bare Escentuals but I would not invest in a range my clients could buy off QVC. You'll never get your client leaving your salon after trying JI makeup and buying off QVC!

Anyway that's not the only reason you should go for JI.

Fantastic customer service, delivery second to none and the regional sales manger (certainly in Scotland) is lovely.

The makeup is fantastic - I haven't used any other makeup now for over 1 1/2 years now.

The foundations have great coverage and so easy to apply. They have a pressed base foundation which is so easy a child could apply it. It's also a four in one too (foundation, concealer, powder and SPF 18) and is so natural looking when applied.

Jane Iredale Mineral Cosmetics - The Skin Care Makeup - All Natural Micronized Minerals. is the US website. It gives details about UK distributors though.

I've managed to find a local store that sells Jane Iredale so I'm going to pop in and take a look.

Anyone else tried either of the two? What are oppinions regarding mineral makeup in general as I've never seen it before.

I have just had a job interview at a salon today, they specialise in bare escentuals and the owner was showing me all the products and testing them on me!!!!The products are amazing and they have such an extensive range, plus anyone can use it as it is fool proof. i was really really impressed! oh and i got the job!!!!!!!!!YAY! Been away from the beauty side of things for a couple of years so may need advice in nr future....hence why i am here!

No fillers etc is the main thing that makes it better.

Very water resistant stays on just about all day.

Very moisturising (liquid minerals)

Call Landmark and they will give you a local stockist.

Thanks for the help guys :hug: You've given me what I needed. I'm going into town with my mum today to take a look at Bare Escentuals then we're going to take a look at Jane Iredale. I'm definately going to phone Landmark up and get some more info.

Actually just thinking out loud but what sort of qualification would I need in order to buy these products wholesale and be deemed qualified to use them on clients? Would I need to be a fully trained beautician or are there stand alone courses like, facials, makeup etc that would be enough, and if so what is the best to go for?

Sorry thought I was done and dusted but the old brain cells are getting me thinking more and more about getting into beauty rather than just nails

I am one of Martigirls clients.....and she did my makeup last week...I loved the Jane Iredale make up so much...I had to buy it. I have the mineral pressed powder, which gives great coverage and is so light you don't feel you have make up on...brilliant for everyday use.
I also had to have the Liquid Mineral Foundation which just makes my skin look and feel fab.
I am just sitting here putting it on at the moment...as I know it will last all day & into the evening......worth every penny!!

I have Louise (Regional Sales Manager, Scotland for JI) coming to see me this afternoon so I may have an answer for you. I'm also doing the Jane Iredale make-up training day on Monday - really looking forward to it - will let you know how I get on.

I am looking at the Jane Iredale after speaking to Yvonne (LBR) about them - I then checked them out in my local salon and they have a lovely range. I currently use BareEscentuals but I think I will be converting to JI soon .....watch this space!

I am not trained in make-up at all. I am studying HND Beauty Therapy at college, but so far haven't covered applying make-up.

When I called Louise to discuss the JI prods she made an appt to come and see me to show me the range - at the same time she booked me on a JI make-up course which is 1 day and only costs £25, I expect they will explain a lot about the products that day. I would imagine after that you can stock and use them though I will probably wait until I have done more training as don't have a lot of confidence yet.

Will know more later today and post to this thread.
