With the introduction of luxury facial masks from brands such as Sk-II, Shiseido and Dr. Jart, plus the increasing interest in skincare trends from Korea, the US market has seen a whopping 60 percent increase in sales of these masks between June 2013 and June 2014, outstripping other categories in the prestige beauty market, including moisturizers.

Karen Grant, vice president and senior global industry analyst, The NPD Group, Inc. reckons its the quick-and-easy appeal of the products that has made them so popular.

"Masks attract today’s consumers with the promise of immediate results in treating a variety of skin flaws. New formats, and formulations that address individual needs appeal to the consumer looking to try something different without spending a fortune."

And it isn't just the US that is seeing sales surge. Prestige face masks also saw sales increases in the UK (11 percent), Italy (8 percent), and Spain (2 percent) in the same time period, totaling about another $27 million in sales.

Until then...geek on!

What's the contraption on her head all about though? :Scared:

The statistics are worth taking note of. It's a quick fix society, and clients like the idea of looking particularly good for a special occasion.
