Pinks Boutique, a British eco-luxe brand is urging spas and salons across the nation to get involved and help celebrate Organic September: a month-long celebration of all things organic.

Pinks will be hosting an Organic Beauty Festival to coincide with the event in the hope of educating and informing salon and spa customers about what organic beauty can do. They have created specially designed artwork and downloadable guides, resources and templates to help salons and spas showcase their commitment to organic options.

The event has already attracted the support of high profile businesses such as The Scarlet, Eastthorpe Hall, Dart Marina and The Potting Shed. There's no doubt that the popularity of organic treatments and products is growing and there is a substantial market that expect organic, natural treatments to be available.

"Spas and salons still hold the best professional advice a consumer can get. As an industry overall, we really need to work with and support our therapists to give detailed educative skin and body care advice," says brand founder, Kirstie Sherriff. "The initial response to the festival has been incredibly positive and we'd love to see more like-minded businesses join in to make it a great success.

"As passionate ambassadors of organic beauty and a Soil Association-certified brand, we have a huge possibility to rock our client's worlds with the truth behind synthetic skincare and to open their eyes to the fact that they are normally buying expensive boxes and bottles with little or any real benefit for their skin. Given 5-10 minutes with a client, we can take them to a mindset where they feel encouraged to consider their overall lifestyle and of course, their skin care choices as part of that.

"Unfortunately, there can be a world of difference between a beauty product that has been certified and one that is merely described as organic on the label. The national press recently highlighted the problem of 'greenwashing', so to ensure a product is guaranteed organic, look for the Soil Association symbol on the product before you buy," adds Kirstie. "Our products are manufactured and regularly audited to ensure they adhere to the Soil Association's strict criteria so that both consumers, and the spas and salons that retail and use them in treatments, can trust them and be confident of their authenticity."

Peter Melchett, Soil Association policy director says, "There is no doubt that many products claiming to be organic or something similar are, quite simply, misleading consumers. Under Soil Association standards, to use the word organic in the product name, it must contain over 95% organic ingredients, excluding water. It is wrong that people are putting chemicals found in antifreeze, paint, oven cleaner and floor cleaner on their skin, when they thought they were buying a product made from only natural or organic ingredients. This must stop."
