Hi guys looking for a bit of advice....

I am looking into doing an evening beauty therapy course NVQ level 2. I am 29 years old and need to pay for the course myself but I am worried i won't get employed at the end of it as I won't be in a salon getting experience. I am also doing CND nail course so if i need to go mobile i can offer more treatments. I think I would then need to do the NVQ 3 as that covers massage etc so i'm looking at 2 years college which i am prepared to do.
Anyone else set up like this without salon placement and successfully entered employment????

Any advice would be great i'm just a bit scared of making the initial outlay as money for us all right now is tight! :irked:

Hi Jakki,

Have you considered working at a salon on a voluntary basis? Maybe just one afternoon/evening per week....it's a foot in the door, it gives you some salon experience (although it's likely to be reception/cleaning duties initially) and it also looks good on your cv...it means you are committed to gaining experience within the industry. Being pro-active puts you one step ahead and shows prospective employer's that you mean business.

Good luck!
