hi, i am hoping someone out there can help me. I attented a beauty therapy nvql2 course in 1998 which i completed, i recieved a letter from the college with my grades on but not my certificates, I wasnt to concerned. I then moved, worked as a therapist and a consultant, i left employment then to raise a family.
Please dont get bored.....
I then recently (after a stint of rubbish jobs) decided to get back into the beauty industry and apllied for my certificates only to be told that i had been entered for the qualifications but was never actually signed off, so i contacted the college i studied at but they said all of the tutors who taught me had left and they had no records of me attending as they destroy them after 6 years!!! So i now have to start again.
Does anyone know if there is anyway around this? i understand that i would need to refresh even if i had my certificates, but the problem i now have is whether i need an nvq as there are a lot of places offering one day courses in waxing lash an brow treatments etc, would it be possible for me to attend these and then somehow transfer qualifications into an nvq????????? may sound like a daft question, sorry, but i dont want to go to college again full time and i want it done asap. I was looking at the carlton institute just because of the nvq they offer but it hant got great reviews, but as i know the basics it may be ok for me, only prob is the cost....

hi and welcome

First i would check with the awarding body for the college they should have a record of you.

If you have tried this i would from employment and personal experiance i would do a nvq/snvq/btec.
i know you may be in a rush but if you need to brush up/refresh as you said i cant see what 3-5 hours with dozens of other people is going to teach you or help you refresh as i dont feel you get pratice/knowlege you need in a day.

these are all my personal feelings.

hope this helps good luck

ahh this seems a bit of a shame really, when I started my beauty course, I had to get my school results but unfortunately my school moved  and I was really desparate to get my certificates. To cut a long story short, and so many phone calls I eventually contacted the exanining board and who were able to send me my certificate. I think there must be a way you can get your certificate because I took my exams in 1982/83.
