Hi everyone.

Just wanted a bit of advise. I have found online a home study course in Beauty Therapy and Nails by the BSY Group. Was just wondering if anyone on here has heard of them and whether they are any good. They are accredited by The Guild. They sound good and at the moment have 2-4-1 on courses!!!

i havent heard of them but i cant imagine how a home course in beauty would work as a very large percentage of beauty is practical...

Ive heard of BSY and I would just double check the requirements as the guild will only accept and insure against courses that have got a practical element, so home study alone from bsy will not be of much use to you. I do know they run classes but i believe that these are at a further cost.
So please just double check. It could work out far more costly than you were originally thinking.

Hi

I would be very cautious of online home study beauty therapy courses as you really do need as much practice doing treatments on clients as possible. Im currently studying for level 3 beauty and i go to my local college. It may be worth checking out your local college and see what they offer and how much it costs. Some colleges do offer leaner support funds to help pay for tuition fees, equipment, etc. Plus they also have a working salon where students, staff and members of the piblic can have treatments.

I hope it does help in anyway

Axiom very kindly gave a sample waxing consultation form here http://www.salongeek.com/skin-geek/69576-waxing-consultation-aftercare-forms.html
I'm sure you can tweak it to make it suitable for all beauty treatments.

Both of the courses have compulsory 2 day practical training. I went on The Guild website and they have the courses on there and it says on there that they will fully insure people with those qualifications.
