Which courses would you recommend to become a primarily wedding MUA?

I've done an online makeup course, but I'm not sure where to start with wedding makeup. Are colleges good at teaching it, or is it better to go with brands?

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Thank you!

To obtain public liability insurance cover, you’ll need to have completed and passed a recognised beauty or make-up course. If you already have your level 2 in Beauty, that should be adequate but if not, you’ll need to find a proper course that is recognised by the industry.
Internet based training is pretty much a waste of time for services that require hands on practical skills.

Also, don’t rely on a snazzy looking website and potentially fake reviews but check how it’s accredited and see if you can find some honest independent reviews.

Make up courses are incredibly popular but there are many that are mediocre at best and won’t give you enough training to help you with your career ambitions. If you’re serious about becoming a successful Bridal MUA, don’t skimp on quality training. It’s an investment in your future.

Thank you! So City and Guilds or VTCT L2 would be a good starting point, then specialist courses? :)

I didn’t do a separate course for wedding makeup and I did a lot of them. An evening makeup course covers everything you need to be insured for it and a good one would tell you everything you need to do differently for a wedding, but it’s mostly in how you conduct the business, consult and payments etc than actual makeup changes.

I did a lot of them and yeah £200-600 a time sounds amazing for one weddings work. But just a few of the brides I had to deal with put me off completely and I don’t do it anymore. I would pay £200 a week not to do wedding makeup.

Thank you! I can imagine that! I’d also love to do fashion for smaller shoots, I can just imagine catwalk being very hectic.
