Hello everyone,

Sorry i don't post very often, i think this is only my second post, i'm much more of a lurker! :o

Basically i have been asked to take part in a ladies pamper night at my local pub.

Other people will be doing facials, massage, foot spa etc, and the landlay has asked me if i would like to take part on the nail side of things.

As there is going to be a lot of services offered, i've been asked to keep things fairly simple and cheap so thought i would check with you guys, on what i had planned.

Was thinking of offering mini manicures, consisting of filing, shaping, cuticle cream/oil and a clear top coat or a polish colour of their choice.

I was also thinking off offering to do one acrylic popit on their pinkie fingers if they were interested in having it done.

Price wise i was thinking £5-£7 for the mini mani and a polish

And then £4 for a popit.

Does that sound ok??

Have also filled some nail gift bags with a glass nail file, hand lotion, cuticle oil, and a polish....and was thinking of Charging £4/£5 per goodie bag, and £3 per bag if they have treatment?

What do you think??

I have never done anything like this before, i normally charge £20 for a full set of acrylics, £14 for an infill, and £10 for a manicure.

I don't mind keep my prices low on the night as they are expecting quite a large turnout.

Would appreciate your thoughts/advice please thanks

i think the mini mani sound good.

But how on earth will you make any profit on a goody bag @ £4-£5 each?? My glass file cost £3.50.

Obviously if you can make the bags up cheap and make some good profit then go for it. Who is your supplier coz i am intrigued to know how you manage to make up a gifft bag so cheaply.

Everything else sounds great though... why not offer some vouchers etc for ladies who book on the night too?

Hi T,

I've picked up the glass files extemley cheap, a friend of mine told me to look in chemists or on ebay and i've come across a pack of 5 small ones For something like £2.50 a pack.

Picked up 15 gift bags for a £1 in my local card shop, and the nail varnish is coming from my overly large collection of unused ones.

Vouchers sounds like a great idea, knew i had forgot something!

Hiya,
all of it sounds really good :) Make sure you take loads of business cards with you! :)

that is a real bargain, good luck to you!

I'm sure it will be a great money make for you x

Personally I think if you are going to do this you should just offer a free sample nail...I find it hard to imagine that anyone would pay for one nail...I could be wrong but I dont think it would cost you very much at all to give one freebie sample nail...and if it manages to generate new clients then it will have been worth while.

Does that sound ok??

How about making up the goodie bags as you say and charging the £5 but leave out the glass files and sell them seperately? I find glass files catches most peoples eyes and sell quite well. I wouldnt sell them for less with a treatment.

Give everybody a voucher of say 10% off...if they have a voucher to take home with an offer on they will be inclined to use it themselves or pass it on to someone else who might be interested.

These prices are ridiculously cheap....why do you undervalue yourself?

I've done several of these pamper evenings and used to do a basic mani consisting of a quick file, no cuticle work, one layer of base coat and two of colour but no time for top coat as we were limited to 15min sessions at £5. By the end of a 4 hour stint, I no longer saw faces, only hands!!

Good idea to give out discount vouchers - you never know. I think a free popits on the pinkie is also a great selling point. Good luck and enjoy.

Hi Im doing one of these evenings in a couple of weeks. I'm doing mini mani, file and shape, with base, colour and quick dry top coat. Im selling a selection of polishes and glass files, along with the pump action remover dispensers as everyone seems to love these. Also an organza bag with mini solar oil and buffer, mini file for £5. Im also giving out leaflets telling them if they book through my website they get 10% off first treatment, that way they are seeing all the things I offer.

Hope it goes well. anyone else got any ideas what to sell cheaply to boost takings?

You could retail a good professional top or base coat that you are using on them.

Hi Hun,
Sounds really good, but I too would offer the PopIt free.
Keep polish colours down, too many to choose from they will take an age.......Also I would steer away from taking dark glossy cremes as they take longer to dry and show smudge marks easily, light couloured pearlised dry much quicker.....Don't bother with top coat, but tell them in the salon they would get that too......and that you have a much larger colour selection in salon.
Good luck.
Lotsa luv x x x  x x x

Thanks Ladies for all your feedback and suggestions!!!

Will definatley be offering the pinkie popit for free!! How silly of me oops!!

I really like the idea of selling the glass nail files seperately, that makes much more sense, and will help fill my pocket better too i gues!:)

I'm also sticking to Light polish colours, ones i have in bulk are pale shimmery pinks, purples, and silver with a hint of pink.

I think now for the goodies bags will pop in a colour polish a top/basecoat, and a hand cream, plus a 10% money off voucher on bookings!!!

I love this site what would i do without you all!!

I will be doing a similar night next Wed and was thinking of offering mini mani for a fiver special offer but it's only 3hrs long and apparently over 100 tickets have been sold. I also wanted to do an acrylic nail demo on my friend, to show people how gentle the prep is etc, maybe do three nails, one natural, one french one arty/glitter, then soak them off afterwards to show there's no damage. I think this might take the best part of an hour so I won't really have time to do potentially 100 mini manis in the other two hours.
HYow long does everyone else take for a simple file and polish? Also, if my mini mani price is normally £8, how much should I charge for just file and polish, the organiser is telling me charge about £3-£5, as it should be discounted for that night as people are paying to get in:irked: Would you discount for an event like this or would you charge your usual price?
I am also selling pinkies, foot files and nail files, and am giving away 10% off vouchers to everyone who has a treatment on the night.

I did one of these nights...Keep it simple.....

My head was down from 7.00 and I didnt look up till 11.00.......It was manic.....Dont make it complicated, stick to minimal treatments....

Give out price lists, business cards and do all the advertising you can...

Good luck xxx
