Hi there, I have a client who is currently high lift ash blonde. The hair is a 12 in shade and very ash. She would like to keep this blonde shade but add a very slight pink tinge to the overall colour. Ive been looking at the possibility of a pastel shade but she does still want to look overall blonde. She just wants the hair to shimmer pink in the light. Subtlety is definitely the key in this one. Any ideas on colour ranges and shades to create this?

I'm sorry, but are you qualified?

I hate to be rude, but this sounds like what a client would post.

There is no such thing a level 12!

Fully qualified for 14!! Yrs. It surprises me that clients would put up a post posing as stylists??? I guess most people aren't as trusting as I am. I currently use the kadus range of colours- which is great for natural tones but offers me nothing in the way pastel colours.

She has previously had high lift colour- full head. In my colour range it's a 12/0 and 12%. Do you have any productive advise to offer??

I sure do. Wella instamatic. Look at the color range. Also, wella illumina 10/69 more subtle. Then you could also use 10/6 in color touch.

I personally am not familiar with kadus, but the numbering system is quite similar to wella. And just because a 12 was used, doesn't mean that a 12 result. Shades can be anywhere from1-10.

Thank you I will look at all suggestions. She has lifted up to at least a 10 with the exception of the bottom layer which has slight yellow tone still. Would you tone to white first or just apply pastel shade?

Definitely neutralise the yellow tones first. Otherwise, it will look muddy.
Then apply your pastel shade. Wella have the new pastel range (Instamatic) which is very subtle so probably best suited to a client who wants a hint of pink colour.

We try to keep this forum for hair professionals as we don't want to rob pro's of paying clients by advising Joe Bloggs how to do their own hair. A lot of posters who aren't pro's make mistakes when trying to use the correct terminology so as you're a newbie, it got queried. That's all. Nothing personal. :)

Ps- kadus got bought out by wella a short while ago which I assume is why numbering system is similar. I love the range however, they don't update to new colour trends very often.

no offence taken, it just surprised me (and never occurred to me) that clients would pose as stylists. I have no problems being asked that question in a polite manner (such as you did). Thank you for advise. Will have a look at instamatic range.

Coty bought Wella only within the past six months and it has no effect on the colours. Wella uses the universal system so 12 series means highlift. I'm not aware of Kadus but I'm sure it must use the universal system too

Could you not do a 10/0 colour touch with a small amount of pink mixer tone?
Or try the instamatic range ? They have a gentle pink in that that you can either wash of after 10mins or leave to intensify abit more after 20 mins

You could mix with kadus a tiny dot of 5/5 with 10/0 and 3% on white hair and it goes lovely!
Ps where do you get your kadus colours from as I rang p and g who makes them but they said they don't sell them!
