what is the best shape to do someones nails, when they grow a slight fan shape but they like to keep them short to the edge of fingertips, any help welcome:hug:

I have a client who has fan shaped nails. I do L&P on her nails and she keeps them mega short.
I have loads of lift problems with her though - I've tried most things - the last one was scrubfresh/nailfresh/scrubfresh each individual nail before application, which I did and she's due back wednesday night!
I always bring her side walls in, but Angie - AKA Bagpuss, said she had a similar problem with a fan nailed client, and that there are just some nails that you have to go with. So I'm looking forward - in a strange way! - to her coming back on Wednesday, to see if my scrubfresh sandwich individually has had any effect!
If not, then I'll have to go with allowing the nails to fan a bit, which would reduce the 'pull' as they are growing out - iykwim.
When I've been to the Event, I'm going to try her with gels to see if they will be more flexible for her (Brisa).

What shape does she have her free edge Bev? I'm quite interested in this too as my friend has a fan nail on each hand... odd it's only one on each hand! She has two ski jumps ones on each hand too!! But I've struggled with finding an attractive shape for her really that she likes.

i have one fan nail on each hand (middle fingers) and ski jump mails....some are really bad......but know self inflicted from 28 years of nail biting!!!
i tend to wear them really short and square as i think this looks better in me.
What are your clients side walls like??? mine are quite short

I too have slightly fanned nails but TBH the most complimentary shape on anyone is one that mirror's the eponychium.

Saddle the tip on a short natural nail and ensure the majority of your product is in the center of your nail,by creating a defined c curve it gives a slimming illusion on the nail hth's

hi the nails are pretty square at the cuticle too , and the sidewalls are short too, i will try square short then thanks x

My nails are all ski jump and fan shaped, with quite short nail beds and square shaped eponychium! :irked::rolleyes::green:

I have found through trying various different lengths and shapes on myself that short to medium length, square nails suit me best.

I do them a soft square. We keep them very short -her nails are still not over her hyponichium when we've finished. I'd guess there is only 2 mm of free edge when we've taken them down. Sh wear pink & whites, so I place the whites slightly further up.
She has been coming every 3 weeks, but I've now suggested she come at 2 weekly intervals.

If you saddle a good quality tip it will help drastically to create a pleasing form hth's

Thanks Bev, that seems to be the general opinion for this type of nail doesn't it. xx
