i was never trained to remove the cuticle ,only to push it back!

You've answered your own question pretty much :)... if you dont remove the non living tissue from the nail there is not a hope in hell that the product will bond to the nail plate.
 
That's supposing you were taught what cuticle is? :)
 
I so agree with this, it is more than likely your application. Mine used to lift quite a bit, when clients weren't, (well I guess I'd rather have it that way round lol), then I realised I was rushing the prep a bit on mine, also fingering the nails after I'd prepped them sometimes so now I find it's easier to prep and apply each one, one at a time hth x (only on myself that is )

That is a great idea, I never actually thought of that... (am I slow, or what? In my defence I've only been doing nails for about 6 weeks :p). I'm going to give doing one nail at a time, a go and see if I get as much lifting. How very time consuming! Heh :)
