Hi all

Please help! I am happy and confident doing axing except when it comes to bikini, It all goes wrong and I am now a nervous wreck!!!!

I just can't seem to tell the direction of hair growth. Am I best cutting it down to 0.5cm (as per recommended length)?

I am sure most of the hair grows in towards the centre of the pubic area but as it goes down and around between the legs, well I give up?!!!!

My training was a while ago and not too thorough on the whole bikini area....

Please please help......or I'm giving up the bikini.....

:confused::confused:

Hi

I was the same as you. Its down to practice and practice.

With the pubic bone I wax downwards and rip the strip upwards and towards me in a sort of angle. Then underneath I apply wax down and rip up!

Use small strips of wax underneath as its easier to work with. Also dont wax over the curves.

Make sure the areas nice and dry (if using your warm wax) as sweat can cause the wax to stick to the skin. Get your client to help hold the skin taut too.

I see your in preston. I am moving to wigan next week. If you fancy a meet up and I could show you the ropes and get your technique right so your more confident.

Hun do not give up:!:. Honestly u will come through the other side. i was so like u not with waxing any more but nails ahhhh drive me to distraction.
The bikin line used to send shivers down my spine even at the the thought of a client wanting it doin. Bikini lines now are the least of my worries, now intamate waxing when i first started that was way up on the scale of requiring a cork in a place that i will not mention lol:lol:
Have not read your profile as yet, as sooo late and should be snoozin, but seems to be taking me ages to wind down today after work. Any how, my first question to u is do u work for some one else or are u free lance or have a salon or treatment room. (i shall have a look in a min)

Ok, had a look but does not tell me allot, so hope fully you can fill in some gaps tomoz to help me and others a wee bit.

I do not really want to go down the old product line, but for me changing my product along with extra training in intamate waxing gave me a whole new world. Waxing was a living nightmare if i am honest. yeah ok, legs and underarms and brows were just second nature to me, but like u the bikini line horrified me. Not so much doing it i soppose, but more so if it would hurt my client, if i bruised my client, how do i get to them awkward bits and then the wax just seemed to go every were i did not want it to.
After my extra training, i also changed the products i was using. Reason, because the product i used from the wholesales was after using the new specialised product more of a tesco's value wine rather than like the new product a delicate elegant fruity wine. If you get my meaning.

Any hows, even if i went through what i do on line, to be honest it will not really help u and will certainly not help u with your confidence. If u would like me to go through it, or u want to talk more on a personal level please feel free to pm me.

Personally to give you that edge, to open your eyes to a whole new world (thats how it made me feel) I would highly recommend if u can afford it a specielist waxing course. U will be given an oportunity to try different waxing products that will help make your job so much easier and also u will gain confidence and a new love. There is some fantastic trainers on here. that will give u that edge and will bring u many clients over a period of time purely because of your skills you will learn a whole new approach to waxing that college just did not coverare.

I promise u hand on heart that by searching on here and finding a good trainer, and poss a new product line that your problems with bikini horror will become a thing of the past.

If you would like me to help u out in regards to which trainers are good on here, again pm me hun. Would have mentioned names on here, but again do not want to be scene as advertising. But if u want to try on your own, then i will go over it the best i can, to help u over come your fears, and i am sure some of the other waxing therapists will also give u some fab advise hun. Any way for now good night and will talk more tomo . in the meantime keep your chin up and a big hug coming your wayxxxxxx

Blimey Jenny - are you nocturnal?!

Lady R - have you considered using hot wax for bikinis? It's much easier to use, can be used on much shorter hair, and is less painful for your client. There are lots of companies offering training in hot wax, and our very own Kim Lawless runs small classes which are very well received.
I agree with Kitty and Jenny though; practice is the key! There is a guinea pig site allied with Salon Geek where you can ask for people to practise on - it's been a godsend for me!
Salon Guinea Pig - Find people for practising treatments, training courses, competitions, etc.
If I were closer I'd offer!
Good luck!

DON'T PANIC!!!!

I don't wax the way that a lot of people do so I won't put my technique on here as I'll be stoned. Just think about what you're doing and see if there's a btter way.

Think about changing to non strip wax. In the meantime, if you're using strip wax then do this:-

Stretch the skin as you apply
Stretch the skin when you remove

Have your wax as thin as possible, so you can barely see it
Apply right from the top to the bottom of the bikini line in a downwards direction to the very bottom
Place your clean strip at the bottom but apply just a small amount, say a couple of inches. Place your stretching hand below where you're going to pull
Then moving up, do the next couple of inches (up to the bone and NEVER over the bone)
Do the same until you get top and you're done

TIP: Cut your strip in half across the middle so that you use a clean strip for each pull. A loaded strip can cause bruising. I've never done this myself and you won't have to once you become confident ......which you will.

Tell us how you get on. Good luck xxx

Thank u all sooooo much

You are all wonderful, I have been worrying myself silly! I feel much better now and I have emailed "The Wax Queen" but will have to wait until she's over this way next year!

Number 1 Kitty in response to a meet....YES PLEASE! Just having someone to clarify it all for now would help so much, tell me where and when!

Thank God for Salon Geek and all you wonderful people out there!!!!!!

Will now update my profile (thnks for the heads up there Kitty) and will quietly collapse with a large glass of alcohol.....wonder if that would improve my technique.....

Aha! You must be Rachael. xxx

i was once like u too, i hated doing Bikini's and avoided them at alll costs then one day my friend (who i worked with at the time and was owner of shop) booked me in nothing but Bikini lines from 9-5 and she called in sick so i had no choice! could have killed her at the time but thank her now and can do it a breeze now!
it all just comes with pratice and i feel the more u panic then worse it gets, just relax and take your time.!!

Rachel u will be in good hands with kim hun, and your confidence will go through the roof i promise u that. Have a holly wood when u see her, cos she is fab, i could have read a mag when she did mine, it did not hurt one bit and i was as smooth as a babys bum. Hubby loved it,
Any huws on wards and upwards for u hun, cos there will be no stopping u now xxxx:hug:

It depends which part of Yorkshire Kim... Preston is actually in Lancashire and is close to the boundaries of West Yorkshire. It about 45 mins drive from where I am here in Todmorden which is the boarder for the Lancashire and West Yorkshire.

And yes Kim, it is me and just so you know Preston is about 15 miles from Blackpool. (north west coast) i live inbetween Preston and Blackpool, so, sorry Kim but Yorkshire is quite at trek! xx
