Hi evryone,
I seem to be posting alot on here recently.I've just in the last week started up my own business. I thought things would start slow but after a bit of leaflet dropping i seem to have a good response. Problem is i am so not confident and am worring about every treatment!! I know cofidence comes with experience etc. Anyway have had a booking for leg, bikini wax and brow shape. Leg and eye shape i feel ok about but i'm really worried about bikini. I haven't done one for so long and the last one i did on my friend was a disaster. I use the PHD system. The wax seem to not stick and left hairs. She bruised etc. It ended up a sticky mess. If any one has some pointers or tips i would be greatfull.

Also if Kim is reading where will you go to train (I'm in suffolk) and what are the prices???

it probably endedup a sticky mess because the hairs were to long, so maybe trimming them would help. i use Hive wax and i find that really good. it could of bruised because of way you pulled the wax strip off. make sure you put the wax on in the direction of the hair growth and pull it off the opposit way. also make sure you hold the skin so its tight when you pull it off. and make sure you wipe over with pre wax before you start. hope this helps, good luck and dont worry :)

I think it's really best that you do some serious practicing before having this client come into your salon. This will help greatly with your confidence.

As mentioned trim the hairs if they are too long, ask the client to hold herself as well as holding the skin yourself so it's nice and taut.Where the top of the thighs meet the body(in the fold) wax in very small sections as this is a common place for bruising.

Good luck and well done in getting such a good response to your leaflet drops.

Have a look at Kim's profile or one of her posts, she has a link to her website which gives you trainng dates, areas and prices.

She'll sort you out, lol.

Until then, when i started out, i found it best to do small sections along the bikini line, using half a strip (making it thinner). Stretch the skin where you can and get your client to help. The hair should be length of a grain of rice. If too long, like the others said, trim.

An afterwax oil takes away any stickiness on her, or your hands.

Practice on all your friends.

Good luck x

If you can get training with Kim then all the better as non-strip wax is much better than strip wax.
Get the client to lie as flat as possible as this automatically stretches the skin.
Bruising is usually caused by going over an area too often, pulling the strip upwards rather than back on itself and not stretching the skin enough.
If hair is too long then trim it.
Stretch the skin whilst applying the wax as well as when removing.
Make sure the wax is applied firmly on the skin to coat all the hairs.
If you have a long strip remove it in smaller sections and make sure you re-brace the skin before pulling off all the smaller sections.
I think a lot of people struggle with bikini waxes to start with and a lot of the time it's due to embarrasment and not wanted to touch certain parts to stretch the skin. Just think of it as any other part of the body and stretch wherever you have to :)

I would agree - its always best to trim if the hair is longer and I would only use non strip wax for those areas.
As with everything practice makes perfect but i can also understand that its difficult when you are unsure. Maybe a 1-2-1 tuition might help, as your trainer can then specifically target the areas you want to improve in?
Let me know if you want me to pm you some contact details?
htp:hug:

I'm training all over, so call me or PM me and we'll chat.

In answer to your question, you really should switch to hot wax (non strip). You and your clients will love it. No bruising.

In the meantime, apply your strip wax as thinly as possible and remover in small pieces, stretching the skin the whole time. Start from the bottom and work you way upwards. xxx
