hi there
im looking for an additional service to compliment bridal and special occasion make up
im torn between eyelash extenions and bio sculpture manicures, which do you think would be more popular - cant afford to train for both at the moment!
i have no experience with nails whatsoever, i was planning to do a creative natural nail manicure course, then hopefully learn bio sculpture - do i already need to have had experience in nail extensions? and would it be fairly easy for a newbie to master?
any help or advice would be much appreciated!

Hi
I'm Bio trained and love it, so I would definitley recommend it. I don't know about offering eyelash extensions or nails because they are different treatments, and people want different things. I would say nails would be the most popular because everyone, not just brides wants beautiful looking nails.
I don't know how long eyelash extensions last, but Bio lasts anywhere from 2-5 weeks (i've had an overlay on for 5 weeks with no lifting) and this would be a great recommendation for wedding and honeymoon, as you can also do the bio on toes, so brides can have matching fingers and toes for their exotic honeymoon without having to worry about reapplying polish !!
There are other gels out there too don't forget that offer the same, so do some research as Bio can be expensive, having said that I love it as do my clients and some people ask for Bio specifically.

My decision on what to offer would be based on what i thought would be the most popular and which could recoup my costs the quickest, and not forgetting repeat business. So ask about and see what reaction you get. I'd ask friends the hypothetical question as a starting point, that should give you a general idea.

Hope this helps
:)

hi there
thanks for your comments .. ive just contacted bio to find out more info - hadnt realised quite how expensive it would be to start up £700 for training and starter kit

i agree with you that more "everyday" people would be interested in the bio's and would probably be able to build up a regular client base, but i think i will probably decide to offer it in a cpl years, once im established, can afford the training and am not in a hurry to recoup the initial outlay

i think the eyelash training however would pay for itself with just 5-6 applications, i could offer it as part of a package to my brides and will probably also get regular customers who just love long lashes!

thank you, you gave me some good food for thought!

Hi

I have recently done the Flirties eyelash extension training. I am fully booked for next 4 weeks for lashes (this includes some returning customers for infills, but also quite a few new clients too)! I cannot believe how it has taken off!

Its quite tricky to learn, but very addictive and as you say, is already paying for itself.
