Does anyone like using this?Heard lots of good things about it so I tried using it on my face for acne scars but it made me break out - v disappointing. Since then I've read that its actually not ideal for your skin as it has mineral oil in? :( x

I used bio oil for a year straight on my face and legs and like yourself it broke me out on both and no disappearing scars! Don't know if it's just to do with people's skin type - my sister uses it just for her face to heal a slash mark from glass and its worked rather well, no breakout either X

What are the main ingredients? Is there any mineral oils in there?

Use Nivea, my bf mum had breast cancer and her surgeon told her to use it.
I also had acne and whilst being in roacutane used it on the scaring and my dermatologist asked me what I was using as I had hardly any scaring, there has been loads of research into it just google it and ull see xxxx

I would not suggest to use bio oil on facial scarring for acne it contains mineral oil, i suggest silicone gel for post surgical scarring and a consult with a good facialist or medical aesthetician to establish a good treatment and product regime would be so much better for you lovely and can reduce acne scarring, treatment options i have used with success include combination peels and needling with at home use of active skin products xxx

Does silicone work for keloid or hypertrophic scarring? I have a lot of very large scars across my stomach from various operations and I was given silicone pads to wear by the hospital but they didn't make any difference. :/

Kelocote Keloid Treatment | Scar Gel for Keloid Removal

Just ordered some of this, as recommended by a plastic surgeon for a hypertrophic scar I have on my face, I have had since a child when I was bitten by a horse. I have also had 4 dermapen needling treatments on it and its certainly looking a lot flatter

I agree, I used Kelocote gel for post surgical scarring with great success, you have to be vigilant but it works!!

I'll definitely look into this gel it sounds great but I can't do needling treatments! I'm so scared of needles I was put under general anaesthetic just to have blood tests done!

Lol I hate needles too but it's not the same, you don't feel a thing. Try the gel though

Welcome! I am fanatic about it and even have a little tube in my handbag :-D anyone who suffers hypertrophic scarring will understand that though!!! I have to order it from the UK but it is great stuff, I get the SPF 30 one x

Try pure vitamin e oil - works a treat a scarring! It's multi tasking for skin, hair and nails but you only need a small amount as its heavy.

I too tried Bio oil for acne scarring but it never helped and only made my skin break out even more :irked:

Have you tried Microdermabrasion for scaring. I've had great results with some clients :)

I have seen very varied and at best minimal results from Microdermabrasion for scarring and re pigmentation, however I appreciate this is dependant on the skill of the therapist, technique used/machine etc.. Personally I see excellent results from needling to promote natural repair from deeper within the skin without removing the epidermal layer combined with use of effective topicals

I too think needling is best for scaring, I haven't seen results with microdermabrasion

I have treated a fair few clients who have had lengthy courses of Microdermabrasion to little or no avail. Also a dr colleague treated a patient in clinic for a more serious skin issue following treatment. It's safe to say our clinic was not a massive fan, however I do appreciate that as with anything results and adversities generally depend on whoever is carrying out a treatment.
