I am due to take my Bio sculpture assessment on Monday next week and I am nervous to say the least as I always manage to fail everything first time!

Anyway, I have done about 8-10 sets of nails sets but they just do not seem to be lasting, I am looking up on here and in my manual about all this but I am a bit concerned for my actual assessment.

Do they expect to see a perfect set of gel overlays and infills as I am not sure how the grades work. What exactly is it that will make you fail the assessment? I know there is a 12 point evaluation chart that they go by but I am so worried that I will fail and have to fork out more expense to re take it again. The sets of gels I have done I think only 2 sets have lasted longer than 2 weeks without lifting. I thought there was an A grade assessment which you can take after you have done the initial assessment. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Am is same boat but for a couple more weeks, and I'm a nervous wreck! xx

Hi,

If your having a few probs then maybe you should postpone your assessment for a later date until you feel more confident and the nails are ok.
All i can say regarding the lifting is to make sure the prep in very well done, and when you sanitise before applying the gel to make sure the nail is bone dry and there is not dust, cuticles etc on the nail plate to cause the lifting.

HTH, xxx

Thanks for the replies. I prep the nails and make sure there is no shine or wet residue from the dual cleanse. I am nervous no matter what test I take!

I think I will go ahead with my assessment, the actual nails once done are quite good, i make sure I go over the free edge and neat cuticle lines its just the lasting effect of them which bio sculpture are not going to see on an assessment day. I will obviously discuss this with the tutor on the day. If I were to retake my test at a different date it would not be until March next year that I can make it! Best just go for it I think!> x

Dont panic.

the best thing I can say is to view your assessment as extra training and a way for your tutor to help you with any areas that you need to improve on. dont view it as a pass or fail thing but a skill building event. that is the best way for you to be put right on where you are going wrong and if it does mean that you need to go back again in a few weeks/months then so be it.

If you really are struggling the trainer will be there to help you.

You are right - the A grade assessment is for you later down the line.

Where are you getting the lifting on the nails you are doing?

I get the lifting more so along the side walls, i do go around them with a cocktail stick. A few of the problems may be due to the fact that 3 of the girls I have done them on are all medical professionals (i work in a drs), so they are constantly washign their hands and using sanitiser gel which i did warn them might damage the gel.
That is a good point about takign it as a learning curve, I have spoken to Bio this morning and they said to go ahead as tutors are there to help on the day and help with any problems Im having.

Thanks for the reply Oey!!

You are welcome Sammy

I am glad that you have decided to go and I bet you will be fine.

With your side wall lifting - are you absolutely sure that you remove all debris and shine from the nail walls? Is it in the stress are of the side walls? Are these on NNOs or sculpts? Have you tried building up wore with s-gel in the stress area to see of that helps?

Good luck for next week.

Hi
Im in exactly the same boat, i've got my assesment booked v soon and although i am getting quite confident, ive had a couple of people say that they are peeling from the top.Its very strange as it always the index finger on the right hand. I have done a fair few sets now and its only these two people that have the problem so ( although i may not be right ) i personally think it could be something they are doing .....

Good luck with your assesment im sure you will do great
