Hi ive signed up for my biosculpture training and really looking forward to it.
Im just wondering how much trained bio techs pay for their pots of colour gel as i was a wee bit alarmed to find that i only get one colour (red) in my kit along with pink white and clear. I thought i would get at least a half a dozen colours with the kit. Im a mobile part time nail tech and just wondering how much im going to have to fork out on top of the £552.25 for the course and kit to get a good range of colours to offer my clients?

I know it will all pay off in the end, just its alot to pay for the course itself and a wee bit disheartening to find that i wont have a good range of colours as well.

Thanks for any advice in advance.

Hiya, I recently purchased my starter kit and have just been on the overlay course, I am due on my sculpture course in July, to answer your question - all the 4ml pots are £16.00 plus vat which I believe works out to be £18.80 inc vat, I purchased around 17 additional colours to give me a variety of choice but in all honesty to start you can do either french, french clear or just clear and promote it that polish can be painted over the top of the overlays to add variety for evening wear and still have a natural look underneath for day wear.

Do have a play around with the gel before going on the course it will really help as the course is quite fast paced if you are just going for the day and half training for nail techs.

Hope this helps;)

I am also looking on doing the course, how much are the 10g and 20g pots once you have done the course? thanks in advance.

The 10g pots are £ **** plus vat and the 25g pots I think are over £**** plus the vat, so not cheap, most people go for the 4g for colours to start with so you can build up your colours and know what is popular before investing in the larger pots.

You are buying into a very good brand of gel and you can promote it as a premium product that cares for your nails. However, I know what you mean about having to pay out to get some more colours, and wait until you do your training and find that as part of your assessment you will need certain colours not provided in the kit. I would say that I have spent about £250 in extra colours and product but that I have lost count of the number of paid clients I have had and it is the service in most demand so I am looking to extend my Bio Sculpture skills. It will be a while yet by the time I have earned back my start up costs but I am so glad that I went with Bio Sculpture.

Like someone else said, offering French is pretty much the mainstay and then I have about 10 colours. Even with the French though, there is not enough gel in the start up kit so you will still need more.

And for my start up costs, I have passed my assessment and actually today, I am going back to the salon where I trained to sit in and watch them at work. I just know I am going to learn so much from this experience. Perhaps you can do this with other gel brands. There is also a specialist Bio Sculpture forum on this here salongeek which you might find useful too. :D
