I have clients who have bruised their big toes from skiing. The big toe nail is all black. It does not smell.

As it is now summer and the client wants to have her toes on display. She tells me if she cuts the whole nail off it will grow back with a new nail FASTER than waiting for the new nail to come through. She has done this before.

How is this possible? what advice would you give this client?

Have you seen the toenails and are they separating from the nail bed?

frankly, if the nail is not seperating from the nail bed, leave it alone. and no it will not grow back faster, the average tonail will take 12-18 months to fully grow out, sorry there is no way to make it grow faster. if it has seperated from the nail bed then refer her to her doctor for proper removal.

i did have a client like this and the only thing i would do for her is to do a normal pedicure, and polish(was not seperated from the nail bed) if it was seperated i would have refered to her doctor.

hope this helps

No it has not separated although the nail looks very thick and it has ridges.
