Hi

I have just noticed a lot of blackheads on my forehead, nose, cheeks and chin. I try all the time to get them out but i just can't. Don't know if its harder to do on yourself than in the salon but i'm getting nowhere

Does anyone know how to remove them? i steam and then use tissues on my fingers and gently squeeze. But they still remain.

thanks

Do your Guinot facials not help with this?

Hi

No they don't seem to help at all. don't know whats going on with my skin. would that mean i'd have to try something medically?

Black heads quite often are a result of oily skin, not cleansing your skin daily, sometimes your cleanser may be too heavy for the skin causing a build up,diet can also contribute and not exfoliating regularly(make sure you dont over exfoliate though, max of 3 times a week)

I would steam your skin, carry out extraction as you have mentioned then once all have been removed I would stick to a good skin care routine. You may be using the wrong products so I would have a look at that. Some clients seem prone to them but if you do follow a good skin care regime you SHOULD be fine.

Avoid touching your skin as this transfers bacteria and grime from the hands to the skin, also a good clay mask can be very helpful and once a week steam always use a toner to close the pores following any routine. There are lots of very good products that will help eliminate blackheads if they continue.it may be an idea to go to a salon to have a skin expert have a look and diagnose some products suitable for your skin and treatment schedule HTH

Contrary to the old notion that a blackhead is simply dry sebaceous secretions plugging the duct, it is now known that the commedone is actually a combination of lipid material and keratinised material. Considering this the two aims should be to clear the excess lipid material effectively (without dehydrating the skin) & to effectively refine the stratum corneum through exfoliation and/or use of products designed to keep the amount of dead skin cells down (i.e. those daily moisturisers containing low levels of AHA's etc).

I'm sure Guinot must have products for this; it's just knowing the cause of the skin condition & relating that to the products containing the right ingredients to deal with it!
