Hi just after abit Of advice when toning bleach blonde hair to a ash blonde. My client currently has bleached hair done by me previously. She’s not send me a picture of what I would say a grey/ silver. But she’s said she wants it more ash than grey. (I’ve attached both) her natural base is a 5. But when I do the ash I will be giving her a root stretch. So all I need advice on is what colours u would recommend to use to achieve a light ash blonde without it having the muddy green colour. I use wella so if u could give me some colours in wella that would be great

If you dye an extension strand that is yellow blonde such as her colour, especially on her ends (9.. the light in the salon or indoors will show a true grey colour, when they step outside, you can see green & blue on a base 9. It simply does not work.

I have tried so many toners in wella of late and really struggled to combat this problem.

I tried 10/0 mixed with a smidge of 22/0 with KP and it was lovely and slate at first but a week later had gone khaki (pic 1)

Tried again with the similar formula in CT with 1.9 vol it washed out after a few days! (Pic 2)

Tried the ash KP colours more recently using the guidance on the back of the chart with like 10/16 + special mix /88 and I achieved light but always warm blonde, can't get to ash nor a grey that sticks!!

If anyone has got any advice in wella I would appreciate some support too!!

Try using either 10/6 or 9/16 with either 8/81 or 7/89 +1.9%
Or Illumina 8/69+7/81 pastel?

The reason you're getting khaki hues is because there is still too much underlying yellow, grey colours are generally blue or green ash based, so adding blue or green to yellow leaves you with green hues. But if you neutralise the yellow first, when you use your green and blue toned ashes, you'll get the colour it's supposed to be. Hope this helps

Thank you, I realise that but that slate grey was fine at first only went khaki after about a week or so, it so frustrating as I don't want to compromise the clients hair with bleach to achieve these shades! The semi doesn't grab after either so its finding a solution that what will last
