Am interested to know why you want to trial it when you're using gelish? I've been thinking of trialling gelish myself. Are you not happy with it?

I have to confess I bought a BS top coat just for use on my colour pops as I was getting through my CND ones so quickly, and it absolutely stinks! I dread to think what's in it

Lol why r u disgusted? I got 2 cco polishes recently yea they do stink but I did them on my friend and it lasted 3 weeks with no chips & came off really easily, there are a lot of people using bluesky & cco nowadays but they won't say on here x

I can certainly understand being curious about it; it sure has gotten a lot of attention here. And of course, within the limits of the law, a tech has a right to run her business as she pleases and use whatever products she chooses. However, I do want to put out a few words of caution.

The first is that this is a counterfeit product. Although they were sued and had to remove "Shellac" from its labeling, it still uses the CND graphic identity. MSDS are hard to find, BS does not advertise in the professional media, and there is no education, support, or associated products. Unlike CND Shellac, BS is not hypoallergenic and, in fact, may contain an excess of photo initiators and other sensitizing agents. I've done a lot of work in China over the past several years and whilst most Chinese products are good, there is a lack of regulatory oversight that can make Chinese products dangerous. I am especially concerned about a product which has the history of deception and lawsuits as BS does.

But even if BS performs okay, do you as professional nail tech want to support a company whose intent is to deceive (either the tech or the client) and which provides no education, training or customer support of nail techs?

I have no problems admitting I've used bluesky before, I was on work experience in a salon after I qualified and wasn't getting paid. It was cheap and I was using it on myself. The smell is overwhelming too,
I wouldn't put my clients through sitting smelling that. Yes it lasts weeks but that's no good to you when you're hacking at your nails trying to get it off! I actually had a regular client today who had been to wales and got it done over there, I knew by looking at the colour it was bluesky and the stress I had getting it off! 15 mins soaking and it didn't budge! I had to file the rest off because I was already behind with her appointment and didn't have time to resoak. She was furious with the salon for putting it on her nails and swore to never go back next time she's over. She was mortified and kept apologising about making me late for my next client.
I have no problem with anyone who wants to use it but why would you put yourself and your clients nails through that. Until they stop selling to the public I'll NEVER think of them as a professional product regardless of what anyone else says.

I 100% am a shellac and gelish girl and have no problems with them. I work in a salon where we use both these brands and they are wonderful.

The bluesky is JUST FOR ME at home. I would never use it on a client. I am on maternity leave and just felt like an affordable treat. Hope they work well! :)

At the risk of being ex communicated, criticized and ridiculed, I have to admit I use Blue Sky.
I started using it for many reasons, one of which is CND only had 12 colours, BS had triple that.
I agree the base coat is a complete bastard to remove, so I don't use it. I use CND base and top coat. With Blue Sky, CND, IBD, gelish, and gelique colours.
I have been doing this for years. Have my own little salon, and am working 5-6 days a week with nails being my busiest service (I use CND acrylic).
All of my clients know the story about the battle between CND and Bluesky, and to perfectly honest NOBODY CARES.
As long as I do a good job, charge a fair price, there are no problems.
I have NEVER had a reaction, whether it be a skin or a respiratory one.
My clients drive from half a hour away, passing a number of salons on their way, and many post fb statuses on their own and my business page, promoting my business.
I might add that I use a generic lamp too, just to really freak you all out.
So I'll keep doing what I'm doing, running my successful little beauty room, and be Thankful that I'm doing something I absolutely love.

If you are disgusted, then surely it is no surprise that your fellow professionals will be disgusted too, do you want a reaction? Pun intended

There are plenty reasonably priced professional gel polish ranges out there, I see no reason at all to purchase a known counterfeit product.

I think you and your nails deserve the wonderful products you use on your clients.

For fear of this turning into a rant thread, I just wanted to say on a final note that I respect all of the opinions aired on this thread with everybody of course being entitled to freedom of choice in regards to what products they purchase & use. But for me choosing not to use or buy BS is one very simple reason deceit, why intentionally try to deceive customers into thinking it's the "same" as another product, stating things we already know ie using "shellac" copying packaging, even the same patent number!! If blue sky is great why didn't they create their own brand, in it's own right instead of riding on the success of another companies coat tails!? Forget whether it's good or not, for me honesty is always the best policy! X

Just a note of caution to techs using less heavily regulated products such as Bluesky, CCO etc.

I became allergic to Gelish and OPI products.
I was properly trained and following the instructions correctly. I DID NOT use any cheap imported products.

It started slowly at first with itchy finger tips then a few weeks later became a full blown scary reaction.

Luckily, I did not need hospital treatment although it was close. My face swelled up etc.

After being referred for testing at the hospital, I discovered I had became allergic to acrylates, a version of which which is found IN ALL acrylic and gel nail enhancements. My consultant said reactions such as mine are on the increase.

I had to immediately give up doing nails as even the dust from filing could cause a reaction and I ended up selling everything at a huge loss.

(Luckily, I'm still ok doing hair but I can't work in a salon that does nails too!)

If the Bluesky stuff smells super strong, please take care. If I became allergic just using heavily regulated products, I hate to think what sort of a reaction I might have had if I used something less well regulated. Definitely would have been hospitalised, I'm sure!

If you do become allergic, you will have to stop doing nails completely. If it's your livelihood, it's just not worth the extra risk.

Posts about Bluesky are always high jacked about facts and ****. I know them all. The reason I bought it was to form my own opinion on it and yes there are other reasonable brands but again I was nosey and wanted to decide for myself.

Believe me I am 100% a shellac or gelish girl, just need to see for myself. I don't need all the legal mumbo jumbo. Hope ye understand x

It is your choice what you use but why is it not in your profile along with CND etc ? ...... Just asking

So why did you post it here if you didn't want people's responses (especially facts and "legal mumbo jumbo")? I'm not trying to be fresh, but given that you expressed disgust with yourself, I just really want to understand what you did want from us in response to your posting.

A pretty high profile salon near me has started using bluesky....they say bluesky shellac in their advertising, their full price bluesky treatment is cheaper than my CND shellac. They also do other reputable brands but they're the first I've seen actually advertising bluesky.

I love bluesky. It's jst a gel polish :) I do all my work with Bluesky and I have never ever had a problem with any clients, my colour range is fantastic and it wears better than most of the other brands I've tried. Its bad removal that causes bad nails. At the end of the day if the prep is fine and the removal is fine then there are no problems. :) atleast I have never had any hahah!! This is just some of my work with it:

Won't it go against your insurance if you use blue sky products?

No Ma'am, insurance entirely depends on the company and there are many companies that do insure this. Its about looking into it and doing your own research as opposed to doing or using what you're told to really :)

Kasey590 your work looks fab. Can I ask what App you use to put the wording around the nails in your pictures. Thanks :D

One of the posters on here may be right In that some clients don't care what the product is as long as it looks nice & lasts & I have thought this too. But i want to use on my clients the safest , kindest products I can as that is why I am there, to offer them a treat. I would be annoyed if therapists used cheaper products that weren't as good. I'm a holistic therapist too & I spent months reading posts on here about the kindest gels & went for shellac. Am really glad I did as I know I have a top quality product that I am more than confident to use.
On another note a therapist in my area was offering a shellac mani via groupon so I looked on her website & couldn't see any Cnd products so messaged her(was being nosey!). She told me she used cco (which she said, her words "the same as shellac") & that she was Cnd trained! Makes me so cross but I feel better I offering the best products I can 😊
