I've searched for threads on this so sorry if there's a previous one but can't find anything. I've read somewhere on here that it's not safe to use ? There's a Facebook bluesky page and an official selling page on Google. So why is it unsafe to use ? sorry I've not long passed my gel course so just trying to understand about brands.
Many thanks

As above, it's not a professional product so it's not used by nail professionals, blue sky is a consumer brand that is also used by unqualified nail techs (wannabes). When you purchase off eBay etc you cannot guarantee the quality or safety of products purchased unlike professional products which follow strict legislation are are also covered in your insurance policy should a client have some bad reaction to the product (provided a consultation has been performed) x

If you look for the little magnifying glass in the top right hand corner you can search for anything, just in case you weren't aware xx

Ok great thanks, wasn't thinking of using it as knew I'd read somewhere about it being unsafe but when I tried to search on here my mobile, I can't find the threads.
Thanks all :)

Bluesky is now retailing at the London and Birmingham Beauty Shows. They have all the MSDS sheets available which when they launched they didn't.
Its has a bad rep because back when they launched they clearly ripped off Shellac. They got sued and changed. Yes it is available for "Wanabes" however, in my own opinion are very good products. They last, they're easy to work with, easy to remove and are cheaper end products so if like me you are in an area where people don't want to pay for a "brand" they just want nice nails... they are fab.
If you do purchase please make sure you buy from Chad Burgin from Facebook or his facebook shop is BBeautylounge.

They're still not a pro only brand. Still sell on eBay. Still don't support the industry. Still don't provide any brand education.

I'm proud to say as a professional I use professional products!

Well done for you. I'm still trained and professional. Its just brand snobbery as far as I am concerned. My clients and I am far from happy with this product. You can buy pretty much everything from Amazon and eBay these days that are classed as "professional only"
....

I quite like bluesky products to. I'm completely with you on it being brand snobbery. Yes the may have tried to ride on the back of shellacs success, but I'm pretty sure they are not the first company to do that!
Thanks for the details in your above post MMbeauty2010 I'll be checking them out.

I think its fine, as long as you'd be happy to go to a hairdresser and them whip out a box of poundshop hair dye, or go to a skin specialist and have them use tescos own brand on you, as theyre the equivilant to using bluesky and any other non pro products.

At the end of the day its personal preference... You don't see poundland at the beauty show, just saying.........
No need to be offensive about it. I like and use Bluesky, my clients like it for the reasons stated above.... Nothing else matters. Some of my local salons now use it. Time to stop the abuse towards it.

It's not being offensive and it's not being abusive. They themselves don't even market it as a pro product!

I'm not being offensive. It *is* the same thing. Having a stand at the beauty show doesn't change that. The fact your clients like it doesn't change that. As long as they continue to market the way they do it isn't a pro product, whoever likes it or doesn't like it.

I'd also like to point out that i have had a set done with bluesky, with no problems.
Guess what?
Still not professional product.

Well what a lovely conversation ladies.. Thanks. I'll keep doing what I'm doing and using what I'm using.
I'm deeply offended as you are basically saying because of the product I use I'm not professional...... It may well be put on the market for home users but do you know what, who cares. I paid a lot of money for my training. I'm proud of what I have achieved.....

Leila M asked about it not being safe, well its all above board now. Has all the legal requirements to use. Is insurable for us "professionals" to use. End of the matter.

I don't think i said *you're* not a professional, i said you're not using a professional product. But if the shoe fits, wear it. It's not my responsibility to make sure you're not offended - You're choosing to get up in arms and i don't know why someone who is apparently so confident about their product would be offended by what other people think.

If you were a qualified beautician using Avon products, it doesn't stop you being a qualified beautician but surely you can understand that some would question your professionalism.

Judgemental I'd say...

A professional uses professional products, I am also trained as a hairdresser and if I used a box colour on a client then that would not be a professional service, trained or not, it's a box at home DIY kit.. Bluesky is not a professional product, therefore you are not a professional nor providing a pro service to your clients... Sozzz.

We each have the right to do what we want with our business. Bottom line for me is that Bluesky still uses the graphic identity of Shellac - it still copies the look for the purposes of deceiving either the tech or the client. It is still a counterfeit. It had to be sued to remove the word "shellac" from its labels. So, until they give up on that, I won't use them. My job was upgrading borderline NSS salons - the first thing we did was get rid of dodgy products, including all counterfeits. So it was bye-bye BlueSky and CCO! While they have both started to provide MSDS and participate in trade shows (although they have tried that for years and their products were even legally seized as counterfeit at one CosmoProf show), they still have a long way to go towards being a legitimate professional product.

As for harm done, why would you use a product that deceitfully skims off the most profitable part of the industry and does not provide education, training, customer support or marketing for professionals. We all want to be more professional, so why would you use a product that undermines not only your own professionalism, but the industry's? And let us not forget the animal testing issue!

As for being judgmental, that the role of an industry/professional forum. There are standards for being a professional, and when a group like this considers those standards violated, it is their proper role to judge. It is beyond naive to come into a professional forum and claim to use a counterfeit, non-professional product and not expect to be judged. It is your business, but others are entitled to have an opinion about it and speak on it.
