I was taught use primer with acrylic and bonder with Gel and i have just phoned up Alan Roy whose gel i use and they said use a primer or try and use nothing?????

some gels require a primer, some a bonder.
the thing is you trained with one product and have now moved on to another without doing any conversion training. many systems have similarities and many have differences.
its the subtle differences that often make an impact on the results.
if you cant manage to do the training, i would try the products out on yourself, noting any different procedures and then studying the results.
work out which are the procedures that give you the best results and stick with them.
