Hi all, Im a wax specialist & currently wear a smart black tunic.
Im hoping to revamp my place of work going ultra modern in style and am racking my brains in order to change my uniform.
Im bored of the traditional tunic and wondered if anyone has any ideas of something else that is smart and on trend ? I was thinking of t-shirts with my logo on but thought t-shirts would quickly end up scruffy.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hi there lofty. I'm just in the process of starting out as a waxing specialist and have been thinking about my options in regards to uniform too. I have decided on a really simple uniform of tight white t-shirt, slim black trousers, black socks and black slip on shoes. I don't think you can go wrong with black and white but the really beauty of this simple uniform is the price. I buy my t-shirts, socks and shoes from Primark for £2,40p,£3 respectivly.....at that price it's practicly disposable. I buy my trousers from where ever they are cheap (current ones from The British Heart Foundation charity shop!)
You don't have to spend a lot to look professional. I was thinking I may be able to get some kind of branding on the t-shirts in the future but that's not a priority and if done wrong can look tacky.

What about a dress rather than a tunic? Depends on how constricting it is but
I'm lusting after this one (apologies for pimping a towie frock, haha) Bridgette Aubergine

Just to throw something else into the mix of suggestions ;) I have a tunic which I bought from a charity shop (never been worn & complete bargain) and I customised it by dyeing it a lilac grey and changing the buttons on it. I think it looks fab and turned a pretty average white tunic into something individual that still looks professional .

Hi I would just like to find some Tunic's that are a little bit longer! I dont know why they make them such an unflattering length that always ends at the fattest part of the hips and when u stretch they show all your bottom, surely it doesnt hurt to make them jst that bit more practical?

La beeby Rosalie tunic is fab, 3/4 length tunic so can wear with leggings too and is very flattering

Thanks crunch bunch but i defo dont want a dress... what with my legs!! No defo a t-shirt or top but still unsure of where to source one. I know the image i want to create its finding it thats the problem.

What, so you're not the bikini clad bird on your website?

I googled high fashion salon wear, have a gander at these:

Buttercups Uniforms | Salonwear Range 2012

Lara Luxe, Salon Uniforms, Salon Wear, Spa Uniforms, The Collection

Salonwear Direct | beauty uniforms | beauty tunics | salon uniforms | salon tunics | beautician uniforms

Thanks Debbi-Dee, I will give them a look :)

Ha ha in a previous life;) ... Had a look at those sites but still not what I'm looking for. Thanks for the suggestions much appreciated thou x

Hi there! Apologies if I get this totally wrong as im a MUA - never touched wax etc in my life! Going from your avitar what about really kitsch aprons with your salon name branded on front - this way you can wear plain (cheap?!) tshirt under and smart black trousers but still have the 50s feel? Might look like you work in a diner (!!) but if you get it right it could look fab!

i love the idea of the kitsch apron! i love wearing dresses for work, i always make sure they are made of ponte material as it stretches so is really comfy and that it has a high neck so no cleavage on show!

Im so sorry! im into vintage 50s style so i get carried away and forget! Kitsch is just another word for retro - its like a 50s pin up apron if that makes sense! i dont think i can add pictures of what i mean but if you do a google image search for 'kitsch apron' it will come up - they are normally a sexier version of a kitchen apron haha! but thought it could be plain black with sweetheart neck and frills and branded logo on front?

I'll google yes. I understand what your saying now, my branding was going down that line Burlesque vintage etc.. But now I've decided to offer all wax treatments to men so am now thinking of more a modern unisex look. Not sure how the men would take the sexy retro look they might think we do more !!!! ;)

For those who want your own branding but cheap too why not look at adding your logo to the cheap t-shirts/aprons etc.. yourself.

I use these (you can get them for use on light fabrics or dark fabrics):

T-SHIRT TRANSFER PAPER 2 SHEETS Ideal for Light Coloured Cotton Fabrics | eBay

I print my logo onto them and cut out then just iron them onto whatever I want logo'd.

You can have your logo on t-shirts, dresses, hoodies, cloth bags, aprons, or whatever you want really.

If you plan carefully 1 A4 page can be used to print your logo lots of times and the spare transfers saved ready for use when you need them.

I spent a bit of time getting as many copies of my logo as I could at the size I wanted them on an A4 page (and checking it by printing on normal paper first :wink2:) and saving the file on my computer so I can just print out a page full whenever I've used each A4 page full.

Baggy bear have you any photos of the finished look? I'm interested xx

Do people not expect a tunic when they walk into your salon or you walk into their home?

There was a thread based on this a while ago, that it can be seen as unhygienic or unprofessional.

I am also bored of my tunic and contemplating branded Tees and smart black trousers but wasn't sure if the above applied!

I do the full works of beauty, I think its fine if you're just offering make up or brows but with waxing etc....

What are your thoughts on this?
