Hey guys just bought my first ever epilator, the new braun 7381 (apparently gets hairs as short as 0.5mm!)
I bought it as I can't leave hair to be waxed :o lol & want to stop shaving legs as they have been very dry.
Well gave it a bash this savo, ouchy! got better as I went on and did legs, underarm, belly & A bit of bikini ( was'nt brave enough to hollywood on 1st go lol)
Just wondered if anyone else uses an epilator & how they find it at removing hair? as I had a few short ones left on my legs, and do you get more ingrown hairs than from waxing? xx

Epilators tend to rip the hairs out at odd angles and can damage/distort the hair follicle. You can end up with crazy growth patterns and lots of ingrowns. Plus they hurt like a (insert your favourite swear word here)!

Let us know how you go with it.

Hiya

I agree with Zondrae, you may well end up with distorted follicles!

I do have a couple of clients who happily use an epilator on their legs but one of them is a hollywood client and she doesn't recommend it for there! The other one is a pedi client and she never has smooth legs. I haven't removed my leg hair with anything other than wax for nearly 6 years so I guess I am used to having to grow it. I think it depends a lot on the clothes you wear and tbh, the relationship you're in. I only go out with men who can cope with a bit of stubble :lol:

Be sure not to tell your waxing clients you are epilating!

Whats a distorted hair folicle :o ?
I hate being hairy at all but can manage to grow in bikini for 2 weeks to get waxed & sometimes armpits but with it being summer I wear shorts or skirts and can't stand having hairy legs :D plus when the man is back from sea I would not have hairy bits lol god if it does'nt leave my legs smooth I'll end up running the razor over again lol
I did the epilation against hair growth fingers crossed! lol xx

I tried an epilator a long time ago and yes I found it painful. To me it felt like that feeling you get when your watch strap gets caught in hairs on your arms, but over and over again!

I found some of the hairs stayed away as long as waxing, but they didnt grow back nicely and it did encourage those ghastly ingrown hairs.

To me, waxing is always preferable but am lucky as I can get away with regrowing for 8 or so weeks at a time as my partner isnt around. y the end I look like a gorilla but I love that it gets loads of the hairs through and in a nice growing cycle.

When im not growing out my monkey legs for waxing, I shave using razors for men. Would never go back to using any razor supposedly for ladies.

Needless to say my epilator ended up....well im not sure...either the bin or the loft I think.

If it works for you great but do take note of the regrowth hair to make sure its not increasing your ingrowns.

Well I don't think its the wonder product its says (and I was sucked right in with....lol) not bad on the legs but did have to run razor over on a few bits! main bit is not to shave the front of my legs to smithereens as it makes them soooo dry urg!
Underarms went fine, but I seem to have short jaggy hairs in bikini area I think its snapped the hair & a few bumps so I think wax for bikini, until I can afford laser :D
Will be keeping an eye out for ingrown hairs, I may have just wasted £60....lol thanks for the input ladies :D xx

I've used an epilator for a few years now.

I have very fast growing hair and found that waxing would only last about 3 days and if I use a razor in the morning the hair grows through by evening. Plus with doing it so much the hair was dark and thick.

So, using an epilator works for me, the hair grows back thinner and lighter and I now have some bald patches.

I use it on legs and bikini but cannot cope with underarms.

It does tend to leave you with ingrowing hairs so I tend to shave from time to time.

It seems to work for me but then again like Zozo, my husband doesn't seem to notice what stage I'm at and in winter I tend to let it all grow as it keeps me warmer! lol!
