Hi,

I am building a website to focus on Bridal work. I would like to have a gallery of pictures so potential clients can see my work. This is a new area for me and although I trained in make up and beauty, to date I have been concentrating on the regular beauty side of things.

I have looked at other websites and many bridal specialists have professional shots of their brides' make up added to their site (obviously taken bythe photographer on the wedding day). Is this something that anyone does? and do you just ask the bride if you can have one of their wedding photos? obviously paid for by you?

I have taken some pictures of models that I have worked on with my own camera, but am not really happy with them. Some do not look bride-like and are just before and after make up shots.

You advice is really appreciated.

Hi

I have a friend do them he is a pro photographer and can get models for you to work on to for nothing. I am not sure of his prices now (he charged me about £70 for a CD of copyright free images he took and then 8 airbrushed pics too.

He is based in lincolnshire but does travel if you cover his travel costs.

If you want his email let me know.

If he is too far away why not call your local college and see if any photographers want some experience if you mention them on your website. Or call a few bridal photographers to see if they will do a shoot with you for free and round up your friends and then mention/recommend them on your website.

i personally think the before and after shots are much better, can you not ask the bride to bring along her tiara and add that in the after shot?

i have had the same dilemma, but have decided that although the photographers photographs look more professional, you often cant see the makeup very clearly, and sometimes the bride is so far away in the picture or is looking away from the camera you cant see the detailed makeup at all - whats the point of that?

hope this helps
