Broken my toenail really badly.

i bumped my toe pretty hard and my big toe nail has cracked vertically way down, close to the root how can i mend this ....please help!!

sounds painful! clean it up (if it's bleeding) sanitize well and prep gently then overlay it, but make sure you keep the nail short until it has grown out. Or at least that's what i'd do. The overlay will protect it from catching the nail on something and ripping it off - aaaahhhhhh

If you haven't already fixed it - I'd put some cynoacrylate adhesive along the crack after sanitising and allow to dry before overlaying it - it will stop acrylic potentially seeping through (overexposure, blah, blah).

This will also reduce any pain you may have as well. It is fine to do this - Geeg told me to fix an acrylic overlay on a fingernail like this AGES ago and it worked a treat and the pain was reduced immediately.

Stings like a ***** when you santise though so remove small children from the immediate vicinity to protect them from the swearing!

A friend i know did the exact same thing all she did was sanitise the nail and apply a silk/fibreglass overlay to protect it from getting infected or catching on clothing.
