Hi everyone, I'm hoping someone can put my mind at rest...
I did a full set tip and overlay 2 weeks ago on Sunday, and she had her first rebalance this Sunday, all nails were intact and perfect:)
So I rebalanced as normal (athough to be fair I don't do many of them), and was very happy with the finished result, looked just like the first set. She phoned me yesterday (i.e. one day later) to say she had broken one, so I went round tonight to fix it. She'd since broken another one, but it was literally the corner of the very tip that had broken off, so I repaired that one for free, as I'm sure that was prob my fault making the free edge too thin.
The original broken nail had split right across the smile from side to side, and the whole extension was just gone. But there was no damage to the natural nail (not that there was much nail exposed) that I could see. It was like a more extreme version of what had happened on the other nail, except the whole tip had snapped off. I repaired by sculpting and added more to the apex, even though it was built up quite high to start with, imo it looked a bit TOO curvy when I had finished.
Do you think this was my fault? I can't see how it could be as I built all nails the same as the original set, which she coped fine with, but then how can it be her fault if she managed fine for the first two weeks?
She had no problems paying me, so I'm guessing she thinks it's her fault, but I'm just so paranoid about getting another call saying more have broken, and maybe it's something I've done?

I mainly sculpt flower, so you may get a better response from one of the other geeks, but when i apply t/o on myself, i have the same probs...and i reckon its cos i apply the product too thin too, yet when i sculpt my own, i dont have a prob.

i do bio-sculpture gels, when i do repairs i dont charge and i wish i never started doing them free! u need to think if u want to charge for repairs coz once u do one free they will expect them all free! i now say if it needs repairing within a week after doing the nails then i do it free otherwise they have to pay!
x

Thanks Glynis, I just can't work out what I did diff between last time and this time. You'd think they'd have more of a tendency to be thicker than original after a rebalance, not thinner! I've sculpted her a new extension on anyway, so hopefully this will do the trick. As for the other nails...just have to wait and see!
Thanks again, Han-x

I charge for all repairs anyway (unless it's just a corner or something, like I said previously), as I don't want people thinking it's something I've done to make them break, I want the client to think it's theirs and pay for it so next time they will be ultra careful.
The only problem is cos I'm new and don't do many rebalances (although it's picking up now),working out what damage is my fault and what's theirs. Today it was sooooo hard to tell.

Hi love,

Its hard to say whose "fault" it is really. She may have jammed it or bumped it in just the right way to crack the smile line, or it could be that when you reblanced it had a weak/thin spot that cracked. It happens to the best of us at times - I wouldn't worry about it too much. I always guarantee my work for 2 weeks - this doesn't include nails that have been ripped off or bit off. This covers lifting, cracks or chipped corners.

When the nail grows the balance goes!!

You can't keep doing the same thing every time. The original structure must be replaced or built in such a way that the strength is always there like I do.
