Brown discolouration under enhancement.....

Hi

One of my clients appears to have a brown patch underneath her enhancement, not on Every finger just 2.

Now Ive heard about greenies, well is this the same thing?

She has very deep side Walls and does get some lifting on these areas... Could this be why?

What can I do to prevent it , if it is cause of the deep side Walls what else can I do ????

FYI when I be noticed the discolouration I have removed the nail, buffed and scrubfreashed like mad..

this is the beginning of a greenie. seems like you intercepted it before it had time to do damage .

if the client gets lifting then that allows moisture to get under the acrylic and that can cause this infection.


make sure you are very thorough removing cuticle from these deep side walls and be really carefull not to get the acrylic onto her skin so that you can ensure the best possible bond between enhancement and natural nail.

explain that timely maintenance is vital and encourage her to call for a repair if she notices any lifting so that you can deal with it before an infection has a chance to take hold.

as it is a brown patch it is most likely not a bacterial (greenie) infection.
More likely it's one of the following:

1) if it's in the middle of the plate and looks like little brown splinters then it's called splinter hemmoraging (blood following the tracks of the nail bed) this is caused by trauma

2) if it is a brownish stain where lifting existed then it could easily be a stain from dirt/contamination - the nail plate is extremely porous and will happily absorb stains (such as hair colour) very rapidly when the natural nail plate is exposed, if this is the case no major, just remove the lifting, ensure the natural nail is re prepped thoroughly and overlay.

If a stain starts to change colour (yellow/green) then there is a bacteria present, and this requires the same process as above *BUT make sure the file you use on this nail does NOT touch any other during prep as this will spread the bacteria.

If you are getting lifting on deep sidewall nails try using a thin board such as a CND Kanga to get down the edges and prep THOROUGHLY

Hi thanks ...

Yeah its more like a brown stain, always at the side wals which was what made me think that it was because of her deep side walls ..

Will try using the kanga and see if that makes a differnce ...
