Hi everyone

Iv been waxing for years, but recently iv been finding that my clients get some bruising just near the dent of your thigh. I stretch and i also get my clients to stretch i just dont understand!!

Please help! im scared all my clients are going to go away!

Thanks xxx

I find the skin to be at its thinnest in this area. Try doing a little at at time till you get your confidence back. Plus make sure you are pulling in the right direction

With strip wax, try making sure you put a section of wax up to the crease of the leg and not over it. Then do another section from the crease in. Apply wax downwards and remove upwards.

Check your clients postion of leg - make sure it's totally bent out frog like and strech firmly from below the strip.

Some clients may bruise easily, but little strips and firm pressure when removing should help.

Have you tried hot wax for bikini?

iv not tried hot wax in my salon - quite afraid of it to be honest!

i didnt get the bruising problem infact so many of my clients started coming ot me for this reason - but it seems iv lost my touch somehow... im definately going to try and go for smaller strips.. thanks x

also whilst on the subject of waxing iv already raised this but if you guys can help - i have the clean and easy waxing kit - and dont get on well with their waxes at all.. do you recommend any other waxes that are tubes that fit the clean and easy machine.

iv just bought some wax pots lavender and tea treee. do you know the easiest way to refil the tubes from the wax pots without causing a massive mess everywhere??

thanks x

Aaah, the clean and easy was a problem for me with bikini waxing. I find it really sticky. Legs was fine, everywhere else a nightmare.

I use Ellisons Wax Master Gold tea-tree for eyebrows, underarms, bikinis etc. Find it works much better.

Was consindering switching to an even better quality wax, like Berins or PR. They look like their really worth the money.

I don't think it's you hun, the clean and easy doesn't seem to work well for bikini lines in my opinion. Just makes your job much harder.

hth xx

Whilst there is some that manage with strip and roller wax for that area its not ideal and not the most comfortable way for your client either.
Try using a hot (hard) wax, which has been developed specifically for those sensitive areas. Once you have gotten used to it you are going to wonder how you ever managed without it!

I like the roller for legs and other larger area and wouldn't be without it but i also wouldnt be without my pot of creme wax or my hot.I dont like clean and easy wax though and i decant other wax into the cartridges. Some might say are you allowed to do this.Personally i dont see why this can be questionable as you can use any wax in anyother heater you dont have to stick with say hive wax if you have a hive heater.Maybe im wrong so check with your insurance.

I agree with the others that hot wax is excellent and a skill you definately should learn. The newer flexible film hot waxes are applied very similarly to strip so if you do have experience with pot and spat you shouldn't find it at all hard to pick up you could just get some and try it if you are just doing straight forward bikinis but if you are doing brazillian/hollywood then you should do the extra training.

When you have the leg positioned outwards you will have a ligament that sticks out and especially in thin clients this can be very prominant and likely to bruise.I have my clients lying flat for bikini and with this section i want that ligament to be as flat as possible so i get them to part their legs and they can also hang their leg over the side and get as much hair off like that.
Never curve your strip around it and take off in one go do it in small sections. The beauty of hot wax is that you can put on a longer strip but pull off in sections and support the skin against each pull.

Another position that stretches the skin right out is with them lying on their backs they can pull their leg up to their chest and you will get a lot of underneath groin hair and inner buttock hair.

Have your strip wax as thin as possible

Use oil underneath

Stretch the skin from either side (I never have my client help, ever)

Remove in small pieces from the bottom upwards

Use the next clean part of the strip

Never use a loaded strip as this will bounce the skin and cause bruising
