Hi guys

I'm sure this has been asked before but couldn't find any threads specific enough - i have just completed 1st yr of college and am starting out mobile.

In college for manicures we were taught to use buffing paste with one of those white leather buffers which is now at the bottom of my kit bag.

What i wanted to know is when using a disposable buffer would you use buffing paste - I know that you don't need to but is there any benefit in using it?

Your advice is invaluable xx

no. Buffing paste and the white chamois thing is just on the criteria as its asssociated with the " traditional manicure". to be buffed from top to bottom as you'll already know. Its good for creating a" matt" finish and good for male manicures but to be honest the 3 way buffer you mean where you go black , white then grey to create a hi shine is best, looks better and more up to date and requires nuthin. Buffing paste in yak.. most students use too much and it goes all round the side walls.. dont bother.. hope that helps.. x

thanks Raquel....so glad as hate using the stuff - was never really sure how you were supposed to sanitise a leather buffer anyway!!......are block buffers or flat buffers better or is it just personal pref x

I use miracle shine and the snow monkey from EzFlow and they are amazing products

Why on earth colleges still teach the outmoded method of buffing with a chamois buffer and paste is beyond me.

No one uses those things anymore as the new buffers for glossing, like the CND glossing Buffer or Girlfriend Buffer do such a superb job and are clean and effective and, as you rightly point out are sanitizeable. I think you can now ditch them ..

We got them in our kit at college, only told what to do with them never used them. Mines still in its wrapper, always thought this was a antiquated way of buffing:lol:..xx

They're really old-fashioned!
