BABTAC & CIBTAC have appointed three new business professionals to their Council. The not-for-profit Professional Association and Awarding Body are governed by an elected Council, who work to help influence the industry, provide a code of conduct and ensure the organisations are held accountable. The three new members are beauty industry professionals Felicity Leahy, Kelly Shaw and Lynn Kimpton.

Speaking of the new board members, Jason Phillips, vice-chair says, "BABTAC & CIBTAC are prestigious, well-respected businesses and the Council offer an external perspective to their activities. Under our guidelines, Board members may serve for up to eight years, and we have an obligation to ensure that members are replaced by knowledgeable, passionate individuals when they leave; this diversity and development helps ensure progression and keeps the businesses moving forward. We had a lot of applications and we all felt that Kelly, Lynn and Felicity have the right attitude and understand the gravitas of the position. I am looking forward to working with them in the coming months and when I take up my position of Chair next year."

Felicity Leahy Profile:
Working in the holistic and medical aesthetic sectors of the industry since she qualified 17 years ago, Felicity has experience delivering training, as well as managing export sales and business development. She has spent many years working and travelling abroad with high-end skincare brands, gaining experience of the international beauty industry and in 2012 established the Spa Genesis Business Consultancy. Her aim in joining BABTAC & CIBTAC is to bring increased visibility to the qualified professionals of the industry and push up quality and standards.

Kelly Shaw Profile:
With over 20 years’ experience as a beauty therapist, Kelly has served as Spa Director for some of the world’s most exclusive resorts in Thailand, Malaysia and The Caribbean, as well as Senior Trainer for the International Dermal Institute. Founder of award-winning boutique salon k:SPA, Kelly is driven by a strong desire for continuous improvement and maintains an active interest in new industry techniques, treatments and technologies.

Lynn Kimpton Profile:
With the majority of her 30 years’ in the industry spent teaching in further and higher education establishments, both in the public and private sector, Lynn has been a CIBTAC examiner for the past 19 years. She owns a salon in Cornwall and supports Team UK as a performance coach and Team Leader working towards Worldskills International competitions. She is passionate about raising standards and embedding performance excellence throughout the curriculum.

The three new board members have joined the existing team and will be working together to continue to support the businesses.

Until then...geek on!
