Habia has developed a new qualification in health and safety to help salon and spa owners, managers and industry professionals stay on top of complex UK and EU legislation whilst improving business practice.

The Level 2 Award in Health and Safety for the Salon Environment- developed in partnership with Awarding Organisation VTCT - is aimed at anyone working in a salon or spa environment.

The qualification can be delivered in just one day and is specific to hair and beauty. Three courses have already been arranged for April, May and June at Habia's offices in Yorkshire, with more planned for the future. Dates and locations are:

* 8 April 2013 - Doncaster
* 8 May 2013 - Doncaster
* 3 June 2013 - Doncaster.

Habia also plans to take the qualification on the road with courses across the UK, and by offering employers - or groups of employers - who can gather at least 12 delegates the chance to have Habia deliver the qualification on their own premises. It is recognised on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) so is officially recognised by government and its agencies.

Rob Young, Habia MD, said, "There is a real need to demystify health and safety and take away some of the stigma. Done correctly it can actually help improve working practices and procedures, thus helping business performance. The Level 2 Award in Health and Safety for the Salon Environment will provide all those who take it with a good understanding of the principles of good health and safety, whilst ensuring they meet legislative requirements.

Your business will have the people with the confidence to deal with any situation before it arises. It's also cost effective in terms of how much it costs and the time it takes to complete -we know budgets are tight and businesses can't afford to have staff away for extended periods."

Until then...geek on!
