I have recently moved my business to a different shop (just a few minutes away from where I was) before I signed a contract for the new shop I checked business rates and found out I didn’t need to pay (because of small business relief)

Now I am in the shop I don’t know what I am supposed to do- I know I don’t need to pay anything so do I just leave it or do I wait for the council to contact me about it or do I contact them to let them know I’m in the shop?

For those with business do you remember what you done when you first moved in?

Hi
You still contact the council to tell them that you are in the premises. They then issue a bill that shows the charge & the 100% relief = £0.00 to pay
I then file this in my accounts to show that business rates have been considered.

I think you can do it on line.

If you google voa business rates, then click onto the gov.uk website you can contact your council this way xoxo
