Hi everyone - looking for some advice. I have been researching what lamp to buy all day and have come to the decision that I should buy the NSI lamp to go with my NSI products.

I am petrified of buying one from ebay and it not working correctly when it arrives. A couple of girls that were on my course said they had bought stuff from ebay and had no problems.

Anyway, I have seen on the NSI site at the moment, they have an offer for a Gel kit and one hand lamp for £140 plus VAT. Does this sound like a good offer?

Does anybody use a non branded lamp sucessfully? I am currently on maternity leave and money is a little tight at the moment, but I do understand that buying quality is always what's best.

I welcome any answers,

thanks Clare.

I would definitely buy it from NSI and not ebay....

i am also on maternity leave and i done the hollywood toes course. i bought my lamp from ebay and have had not one problem with it. as long as you check the person has good feedback etc you should get a good lamp mine didnt come from china either. so many people have problems with ebay but so many companies over price products that this is the only way for people to get what they need. not only thing have bought from ebay and all have been fantastic products ie my maximist gun from suntana etc

its entirely your choice of course...but also your risk. Its also not the professional way to do things...how would you feel if you went to the dentist and he said he brought his equipment from ebay ....??....also another thing to remember is this...by buying from the likes of ebay you are taking business away from the legitimate and authorized distributors....just like those NSS salons we all moan about are taking business away from us.

We should be protecting our industry and keeping it proffesional...and using ebay to buy your equipment isn't the way.

These companies that you say "over price" things are doing just the same and you and I ... making a living....do you do peoples nails at cost...???

i still buy all my gels and product from nsi and salon services just didnt see point in spending a fortune on the lamp when it was over priced still paid for the training still paying for the products some equipment i have had to buy from ebay. i still have a come back with my equipment as they have all had warrantys and i still deliver high quality treatments doesnt affect me as a professional therapist in any way.

I have the nsi lamp as i use the balance gel system and have never had a problem with it. I would def say get it from nsi any problems they are very quick to rectify them. x

its a risk you take buying of ebay but if you are wanting to use nsi products and need a lamp then i think it would make sense for you just buy the kit and the lamp together.the lamp alone can cost around £100 and the kit alone can be the same price so i would say that its a good deal.i use nsi products but i use a daylight lamp because at the time the lamp was on offer at a different distributor.x

I bought my lamp from ebay, it's great, no probs. It has bulbs around the sides too so it can cure a full hand. Just check the feedback for the seller, fraction of the price too.

I use and bought this kit from NSI and would say is was def a good deal. The lamp is great and cure timer on the back is great as no need to clock watch or egg timers!! Is a full hand, but bottom completely comes out so you can also do feet great for hollywood toes!!! I had not lng had twins when i bought mine and money like you was tight, but it was a wize investment still going stromng now even with a few bulb changes! Bec x

Except you are invalidating your insurance by using a lamp bought from Ebay...... If your gel under-cures (which you can't always see with the naked eye) and you cause an allergic reaction which your clients decides to sue you for your insurance wont cover you. It makes sense to use a lamp that company recommends - why would you run the risk of not being insured?

I don't understand the comments made about insurance? My insurance does not state what brand of product or equipment I should use. I have been in this business for 15 years and have kept up with training and keep well informed and have used both branded and lamps from ebay and have seen no difference other than the price.

There are certain countries that actually manufacture the majority of consumables we use in the West. These countries also manufacture their own brands alongside. They are not necessarily inferior, a lot of major industry will purchase trucks and machinery at vastly reduced prices. My husband is a Consultant Engineer and with over 30 years experience understands these things better than me. He checks everything that I buy before I use it and we have had no problems.

I have no wish to cause an argument on here but I do think this is down to personal choice in the end. I would never, ever buy product that wasn't branded but a box with some light fittings? As long as you are having your electrical checks done on a regular basis there is no problem. You can always change the bulbs if you are really concerned.

Some things on ebay are rubbish, we all know that, but there are a lot of genuine sellers who are just making an honest living. :)

You know the gel kits on ebay those silly hong kong brands that have the uv lamps..Well i bought one of those(not for the gel just the lamp was only like £25 for it all)

And that works fine, it got damaged in the post so my boyfriend had to solder one of the wire's together but that was through the post not problem with the item or seller, i still have it now!!lol..
Have to say i used the gel on myself and apart from some of pots being 2 hard it was good stuff but god know's what chemicals were in it!

my lamp and and insurance have nothing to do with each other. also change my bulbs regulary. its a lamp to cure gel does what it says on the box where do you think these companys buy there lamps from buy them cheap sell them on at much more expensive price. my clients are always happy with their nails its everyone personnel choice. but sayng insurance would be invalid load of rubbish to be honest

It is better to use a company recomended lamp with the kits as they are generally tested to work with the product specificaly, ie brisa gel brisa lamp NSI balance gel, Nsi lamp.
If you want to get the best out of your products then use the lamps specific to the products.
I brought my kit from NSI when they had a deal on before I did my Brisa training and sadly my NSI lamp is now redundant as all my balance gels as I have converted to Brisa.

NSI tell you that any brand of lamp is fine, they do specify which wattage to use with their gels but that's it. It's multiples of 9watts. So a 9 or a 36watt lamp is fine.
Salon serve do very good lamps, are quick to deliver and have a no quibble return policy.
All of that said, this deal from NSI is very good value, take the cost of the kit with out the lamp, if you are busy and will use these products quickly then I would say go for it, but if you have plenty of product and the ones included with the lamp will sit on your shelf for a year or so, I'd go to Salon Serve:hug:

Thanks for everyones input. What is the website for salon services?

I bought 1 from ebay its was from hong kong & was a mistake as i bought bulbs from Nsi glasgow as they were the same shape but didnt work so just bought a daylight 1 from NSI so no hassle!!

xx
