I've been working for myself for 6 months and alot of clients followed me from my previous salon. I used to do caci but at the moment I'm not doing it.
So a client has just been to me and the doctors think she may have skin cancer she has a lump on her nose but she has an appointment at the hospital 18th March. So as we were talking I said that's it's best not to have caci until after she has had the all clear,,,,, she asked me why and I explained that because it's micro current you wouldn't want it to spread and that she can't have caci if you have cancer,,,,,,well the look on her face, she was shocked and didn't speak,,, so I just said it was like with electrolysis and that I wouldn't do it if you had a coldsore incase it spreads,,, then she spoke she had a caci treatment last week at my previous salon and they said it was ok because the probes are not not the area,,,,,,, so what am I mean't to say to that???? I just say I'm sorry but I really wouldn't recommed it just incase,,, better to be safe than sorry!!!!! She may not even have cancer.
Am I right or is it true that because the probes aren't on the area you can still have it done????
I feel bad if I have told her wrong,,, she's cancelling all her appoinments with them,,,,, I'm sure you can't have caci if you have cancer and even then you have to wait until 6 months after you have had the all clear.
Please can someone please put my right.
Thanks

It's the same for the non surgi facelift I am trained in which is with Belle Sante No electrical treatments for I think it's 2 years after the cancer has been given all clear..Ring CACI and clarify the situation(as I did when I was in the same situation)and then explain to your client that you have been advised by CACI that it's a contra-indication and if you were to carry out this treatment it would invalidate your insurance.

You may suggest to her, as I have done to my cancer clients ,that they have a normal facial(non micro current)or a pedicure. It just takes a bit of diplomacy and tact at a testing time for them.

As for the other salon carrying out the treatment well,I would tell her you cant comment on that, its the same when clients come to me and say they were given eyelash tints without a patch test at another salon!!!!As long as you are being professional that's all that matters.HTH

Hi
Thanks for that, I was started to think that I had got it wrong.

No deffo wasn't going to comment on what the previous salon had said and done. I know she was really worring but I thought I was helping by mentioning about the caci, I didn;t know that she had reasonly had a treatment and that they said it was ok otherwise I wouldn't have mentioned it. If I was still doing her caci I would have mentioned it just the same. I just wanted to check I had given her the correct information I would have called caci but i don't have their number and thought It'd be just as easy seeing what you guys had to say.
Thank you feel better I gave her the right info.

It's tempting to comment at times eh!!! I cringe when people tell me their other salon horror stories.
I know Persionista has 2 CACI machines in her salons so maybe ask her what their number is.It would be good to write the info down for future ref in case needed.HTH:hug:

Oh it is tempting to comment,,, I was the head therapist there for 5 years and I know the girl really well so I wouldn't bad mouth her she is a great therapist just doesn't has the support and she hasn't been qualified for too long, anything like that would have had to be ok by me where it's all on her now.
The thing is I had writen all contra-indictions out and stuck them to a cupboard door in the room so anything you wasn't sure of you could check and I have spoken to caci a few times over ther years of any problems that I wasn't sure of.
I know it goes a long way giving clients the right advise and not bad mouth others and I know clients respect me more for than.
But thank you again.
