I have a regular client who has calgel french, with just clear and white gel. However, when she comes in for her infills, she has brown patches on the end of her nails. Calcleanse does not remove it, buffing removes slightly. It has stained the tips.

I thought this may be makeup, ie foundation, and she has not washed it off properly. She informed me that she only uses wipes to remove makeup from her hands.

Do you think I am right? What else could this be?

She is now going to dilegently (sp?) wash her hands properly from now on!

Is she a smoker ?? Could be make up I would just buff to get rid of it :)

I would say that yes it is something she is using. She also needs to do her maintenence and give her nails a buff and change her calcrystal this will keep the nails looking fresh.
As a porous gel this is one of the disadvantages of calgel and other soak offs the whites will pick up certain colours.Perhaps she likes to eat curry with her fingers.
Also are you sure you are completely removing the final tacky layer after the last cure as this can turn brown i think there is a picture of this somewhere.

no, she is not a smoker. I will advise her about the currys! thanks x

I have exactly the same problem with one of my clients... I have no clue why they discolour! She never used to change her topcoat but since doing this, her nails have improved but still slightly discoloured.
