Hi Everyone,
My names Vicki and I'm new to the site. I have been a therapist/nail tech for 17 years. Used to have a salon but now work from a beautiful room at home.
I have a question for you all...is there anyone on here that uses Calgel?

I'm thinking of starting with it but am a bit miffed as when I contacted Calbrook Cosmetics I was told that I had to pay £499 plus vat for a 2 day training course and for the starter kit.
Now, I've worked and trained with loads of companies very similar so don't really need a 2 day training course and I already have a UV lamp so would prefer to pick what products I'd like.
They won't let me open an account without this!!

So I'm looking for someone whom I can come to an agreement with and get my Calgel products through.
I know that there is no minimum order and am aware of the prices they charge.
I'm more than happy to come to an agreement on spending more per product so that you can make something out of the arrangement and of course pay to cover post and packaging.
If anyone is interested in helping me out just reply or send me a private message.
Thanks ladies

You can do just do an overlay course with them which is cheaper and you don't need to buy a lamp.
Its not really like any other gel so any previous training apart from bio won't help much and its not even the same as that.
It may look easy but trust me there are a lot of little ways about it that you need to know to get the best out of it.If its not applied in just the right way they come off or look awful.
Calgel are very strict about who they supply, there isn't much on ebay ever because they stop supplying anyone found to be selling on there.
To be honest when you consider the prices of the gels the kit doesnt work out too bad as you get quite a bit in it.
They are also so good at customer support that i personally could never justify using my account to get gel for anyone else and go against their wishes and i think you will find that a general opinion especially on here The calgel users tend to be very faithful and supportive of the brand.

Hi

I'd be extremely surprised if anyone would come round to your 'offer of an agreement'

If you are found to be supplying someone else you could end up with Calgel refusing to supply you.

There is a 'reason' that they only supply trained and qualified techs, as do most other reputable companies.

Why not start as you mean to go on and do things in the correct manner, get your calgel account up and running i promise you its worth it and you wont look back !

You couldn't 'seriously' run a business in the way your asking to be supplied.

How would you get the money to them? would they order if they didnt need anything and you did? Personally sounds like hassle to me but thats jmho!:green:

I was thinking exactly the same thing...i would back my supplier any day over some cowboy trading:!:

Regarding customer service Calgel is second to none,we end up having a good old yarn on the phone:eek:,and they are always willing to offer technical help, and support...For me offering gel enhancements was the best ever, the colours are fab,and if applied correctly with proper prep, they adhere and will not come off.

To invest in your business is extremely important, and if you do not have the money then wait till you have it...i fail to see why so many technicians want to short cut themselves!!

Have you asked if you can just do a conversion course with them ?

Why don't you contact Calgel Head Office again? I am sure there has been a misunderstanding somewhere? If you are already a trained, qualified and certified gel therapist with another product eg. Biosculpture, then you should only need to produce evidence of this ie. certificates etc... in order to do the conversion course. It is much cheaper than the 2 day course as all they will need to teach you is how to apply & work with the gel.

I echo what has already been said about 'coming to an arrangement'. I am sure you mean well and are feeling frustrated, but nobody in their right mind would do this. We all had to undertake the same conversion and pay for it so it would not be fair that you not do the same.

More importantly, as already mentioned, most gels work differently in application and building and you would need to be taught the techniques to apply the gel in the correct way so that it lasts and your clients are happy.

I really do urge you to speak to somebody at Calgel again and clarify your position.
