Am thinking of introducing spray tanning into a UV Tanning Salon.

I have a question for salon based spray tanners or for UV tanning salon owners offering spray tans... ... ... Approximately how many sprays tans are you selling/performing per week these days? Also, do you find that demand for this service increases dramatically at certain times of the year such as Christmas time??

Thanks in advance

Hi

I don't own a salon any more but I can answer your questions.

How many spray tans a week you do will depend largely on how well you promote your service.

I have salons doing 5-10 tans a week whilst some are doing 30+.

Its an affordable treatment to take in as the returns pay for itself within just a few clients.

If you have the space for it then its never going to lose you money, however if you have to remove profitable items from a room then I would see how booked up your competitors are.

Don't offer this treatment without an extractor fan if the room your doing it in has a sunbed in also as the solution eats away and corrodes the wires - I learnt that the hard way and it almost became a fire hazard. Luckily we spotted it before it was too late.

There are always seasonal trends with Summer and Christmas being your busier times however you will establish a regular clientelle that come in week in week out.

Thanks Kate, really helpful info.
The room isnt used for anything at the moment so even to achieve 5-10 spray tans per week would be good, anything more than that would be fabulous.

If you have a shop with clients already and windows to advertise to passers by I see no reason why you can't easily achieve 10+ people a week.

Nothings ever guaranteed though - its how you advertise the spray tanning that gets them in. I have a girl round the corner from me who I trained that owns a sunbed shop and she has the automatic booth and a manual one and shes doing 15-20 a week but it all varies between areas.

I promise you though you won't make a loss!

Hi there I run a tanning salon and we have just recently introduced spray tanning in the past 4 weeks. Each week the number of spray tans has increased last week was 30. We have found that the clients who use our beds are also trying the spray just to top up for a night out ect, it has also helped bring in new clients.
We tend to find Wed to Fri are our busiest days for spray tans with clients wanting instant colour for the weekend.

I think you should go for it your clients who like to look tanned are all ready in your salon and more new customers is never a bad thing.
hope this helps:hug:

A lot depends where your salon is. My salon is in the city centre, so the majority of my customers are either going into the city and then seeing me or the other way round. Either way these people won't want to be dressed in the obligatory old loose fitting clothing, without makeup and deodorants etc.

This obviously disadvantages my spray tanning, but at a guess I still get around 15 a week

Oooooo Thank you Jen xx Cant wait to get trained and started now. I was worried that sunbed tanners wouldnt be interested in spray tans but from what you say they're going for it and hopefully with eough advertising I could bring in new people too.

What brand of spray tan are you using and how are you finding it??

Honestly, your clients who love there tans, the ones who can never be brown enough wont think twice about having a quick top up for the weekend just because the can. We even have people who have come in for a bed deside to try a spray tan instead. Well curiosity did kill the cat lol
just away to pm you now xx

I work mobile and also in a tanning salon and we do quite a few spray tans there it is definately worth introducing! x
