Continuining my search for somewhere localish to train I today found the Beauty Academy in Cambridge, it's running all the courses I wish to take plus added bonus for me lots at the weekends, has anyone used them? would be good to get a recommendation or 2.

Thanks
Amanda

I've done a lot of my training with dartford beauty academy. I found them quite good but think it depends on the course. I found that it's great if you get it and don't need anymore help as i did with gels, but acrylics i find a bit harder and there is no after care and they pass everyone it seems, a couple of girls really ruined my nails as we practice on each other....she filed my natural nail so far i still can't touch it and this was last month!! I don't think they are bad but you need tons and tons of practice after and i am always reading on this. I think if you can afford it I would ideally go for 121 training which often isn't much more £ and you can research good companies on here! that way they pay all attention to you and you get the aftercare i think is needed. I did acrylics, man & ped, gels and eyelash ext with them but have now decided to do my spray tanning with a company 121, and i think my other courses will follow the same way and go 121 training!

Sorry if i have gone on a bit - hope it helped?

Also, I did all my courses on the last min offers (half price), I def would never pay out the full amount for them if thats what you were thinking of doing? x

I have done a couple of courses with them, the one thing I would not do with them is Gels/Acrylics. This is hard to learn and takes so much more time to master, but I have done Hopi ear candles with them its very simple and you cant really go wrong so with this type of course they are fine.hth.xx

Thanks, I was looking at doing manicure/pedicure, eyelash/eyebrows tinting shaping, perming and extensions, facial massage and skincare and waxing. Most of these courses I have done in the past but a very long time ago so am hoping it will come back to me :).

Am looking elsewhere for nail courses and also doing an EN course to get me started.

Yes am hoping to get a last minute place just am so restricted on dates at the moment but keep looking as they offer quite big discounts.

Hi I think all of those but the lash extensions would be fine with them, I think unless you have done them already they are a tricky thing to master and you may benefit from a more specialist training with those. Good luck though enjoy training. Xx

excellent thankyou :)

I would defo agree with Faye! The rest should be fine to do through them, I did the man and Ped course through them and it was great and if I don't have the £ to do my waxing course 121 then i will do that through them too. But I would defo say that eyelash ext, spray tanning and nails should be done 121 with the company you choose.... I went with Nouvatan, who have been great...my training is weds and I think flirties and nouveau lash seem popular on here, quite a lot of trainers on the forum.

Have a look in your local college for the nail course, some do them over 12 weeks which means 12 days of training as opposed to 1!

Well I found them to be very professional. Classes had only 4 in when I went so had individual attention. In my opinion you don't need one to one for spray tanning. Nails are much better learnt in a class than at home for sure . I did facials eyelash tinting massage aromatherapy body massage waxing,to name only a few and they were fantastic. The tutor I had was very informative. O and the manual they give you has stacks of information in so you can keep looking back when you get home . Correct me if im wrong ,but don't they do nvq and city and guilds there too. So they wile be assessed all the time . hth.

Yes you can do the NVQ and C&G with them too, not sure what will be the best route for me yet, how I understand it you can do the diploma and follow on with either or just do one the NQ or C&G courses.... it's all so confusing...

was a little for me till i rang them. they were very nice. helped me no end.
